XP Update Problems
Posted: 08-30-2006 12:58 AM

Are you having problems getting automatic updates from MSN for your Windows XP? Do you have an icon that says you do not have a registered version of XP?

There are two reasons for this:

1. You got a burned copy from a friend and a Product Key!

2: You purchased a computer from a store and they used a master copy with a Product Key that has been used hundreds of times!

If you have recently purchased your computer then go back to the store and work out a deal that you are both happy with. If you a system from a burned copy then do not except the security update which checks the Product ID. You will end up paying for a registered version of XP or the $99.00 for the upgrade. I truly hope this helps even one person! Peace and Love to All

Hi Nick,

I have an arangement with Microsoft as a beta tester, they sent
me a new Administrative version of WinXP Pro with a new product key,
so that I could give them feedback on what was wrong with it.

Every time I change or update a driver on my previously installed hardware
it asks me to re-activate the OS.

I gave them a 400 page report, and they never commented
back to me. LOL

Have fun with your personal confuser.

Hi Kathy!

Not only are you a lovely lady, you are also lucky. I think this is a matter for Microsoft to make good on as they should have know companies would use a master copy of XP to put an OS on a newly purchased computer.
