Defining Ourselves
Physics tells us the universe was a big bang Time and space created from nothing. Religion tells us we came from dust $11 worth of minerals and water.
We are fragile creatures all of us Our lives depend on the balance Of countless physical forces we do not see. Our minds are more fragile still.
We go about our lives as this is normal But when a storm rises up, we fear. We fear what we would loose. Friends family and loved ones or things.
Our possessions, our homes, our lives In delicate preservation of the earth. Too hot, and we would all perish. Too cold and we would have nothing to eat.
Too much wind and rain And everything we know could be lost. How is it we are here at all In this, the routine of our daily lives?
There is more to life than what you see The outward appearance, the things we cherish Something underlies our throng of existance Invisible, yet tangable, undenyable.
What is really important, we cannot see Nor can we touch it but we feel its effects Like the wind blows the tree We see only what it affects.
None of us can deny that there are many levels In that we live and have our being In Quantum physics we call it dimension That matter can vanish and reapear somewhere else.
And every choice we make Creates an entire new universe Are you really sure that when you get up That you are in the same place you fell asleep?
We cannot deny that the invisible Things we cannot touch, hear see or smell Drive us in new directions every single day And we make the choices to go this way or that.
We don't measure a person by what they own How many friends they have or what they say We measure a person by what they do And how many they have helped along the way.
