I joined a traffic exchange a couple of weeks ago and discovered that a new breed of exchange seems to have hit the Internet. These exchanges function the same basic way in principle, but there is a second indicator at the heart that makes me wonder whether they will last. Here's why:
The exchange I joined allows members to view each others' pages--just like any other--in order to accumulate credits for traffic to their own pages. However, there is a distince difference with these new ones:
Members of the new breed of click exchanges are sent to each others' pages with encouragement to CLICK on the context ads on their fellow members' pages. Doesn't matter whether the ads are Google, Clicksor or other pay-per-click ad supplier. Members are encouraged to CLICK the ads so that their fellow members get credit for more clicks. In my opinion, this is a new chapter in the art of living dangerously.
Unless I am sadly mistaken, I believe Google and other search engines expressly forbit members from including encouragements to click ads on any of their ad-bearing pages. Althought the encouragements are not embedded in the pages but are a part of the functionality in the traffic exchange, I believe the exchange itself (by encouraging members to click the ads) is a violation of the basic principles of Google and others.
Any opinions here?
