The New Breed of Traffic Exchanges
8/11/2006 11:22:09 PM
I joined a traffic exchange a couple of weeks ago and discovered that a new breed of exchange seems to have hit the Internet. These exchanges function the same basic way in principle, but there is a second indicator at the heart that makes me wonder whether they will last. Here's why: The exchange I joined allows members to view each others' pages--just like any other--in order to accumulate credits for traffic to their own pages. However, there is a distince difference with these new ones: Members of the new breed of click exchanges are sent to each others' pages with encouragement to CLICK on the context ads on their fellow members' pages. Doesn't matter whether the ads are Google, Clicksor or other pay-per-click ad supplier. Members are encouraged to CLICK the ads so that their fellow members get credit for more clicks. In my opinion, this is a new chapter in the art of living dangerously. Unless I am sadly mistaken, I believe Google and other search engines expressly forbit members from including encouragements to click ads on any of their ad-bearing pages. Althought the encouragements are not embedded in the pages but are a part of the functionality in the traffic exchange, I believe the exchange itself (by encouraging members to click the ads) is a violation of the basic principles of Google and others. Any opinions here? Rose

Rose

I know Google is really strict and getting more so by the minute.

It does sound like the other traffic exchanges might be in for a big

surprise down the road.

Hi Rose,

I do not know a whole lot about traffic exchanges.  The only one I have at the moment is ProgramHoppers.  I have never up-graded, nor have that pushed me to do so.  Of course, until I do up-grade, I won't receive any residual income.  That's alright though, because if someone joins under me an does up-grade, they will begin to make money.  As far as the clicks, it just seems to me that you are out there helping someone else make money, but you don't.  I'm afraid of the word "click" anyway, because someone once told me that it could cost you.  Like having a web-site that operates by the click method.  If someone 'clicks' onto your site, it doesn't necessarilly mean that they are going to buy anything, but if you are paying per click, it could cost you more than it's worth.  Encouragement is an itereseting word.  Does it mean that if you do not click as they encourage you to that you are going to be banned?  I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Yes, actually. This particular breed of traffic exchange REQUIRES that your page have context or sponsored advertising on it. You can't, for instance, post an affiliate sales page or a page that simply promotes an MLM business. Your page MUST contain Adsense type ads, no matter what provider its from. Program Hoppers is a good program. I use it, too; but its not a traffic exchange in the strict sense. Its what's considered a viral advertising tool. Good one. Thanks for posting, both of you. Rose

Hi Rose, I can see the attraction to these type of programs, as difficult it is to earn on line. But as far as google goes it's illegal. Also having your site in autosurf programs...I found out recently..lol Thanks Leanne Busby Great Jokes http://community.adlandpro.com/forumShow.aspx?ForumID=6418 HOW TO....Add your program, biz or resources. http://community.adlandpro.com/forums/16256/ShowForum.aspx Tips for Building Your Business http://community.adlandpro.com/forums/14857/ShowForum.aspx
