Re: Common Misconceptions about Developing a Web Site

Hi Kathy, very good information and it's so true that today we need a website if we are in business. Seems people expect it. I personally used Site Build It (http://ctpm.sitesell.com/Susan11.html) to build my site and found this to be excellent value. At Site Build It you don't need to know html to build a site. Anyone can do it if they are willing to invest the time, Site Build It offers all the information on how to build a content rich site that gets the hits. Site Build It also submits your site to the search engines, which, as you stated can be somewhat confusing and time consuming. I've been with this company for 3 years and my site is never down and consistently loads quickly which I insist on when I'm surfing......a slow loading site loses my visit. For anyone interested in learning to build a site that sells, I would highly recommend they look into Site Build It. http://ctpm.sitesell.com/Susan11.html

Hi Kathy Thanks for your reply to my original questions; and, I totally agree with everything that Terry Kent says. We can't expect to publish a website, and then just sit back and expect to become millionaires! Just like in any "sales" evdeavour, your website has to be marketed, and submitted to all the major search engines etc' etc'. This is a complex undertaking and, maybe, should be left to the professionals. There are companies, and individuals, out there who specialise in the kind of work. And, maybe, the people who design websites for a living, could be losing a lot of potential business, as they appear to be very loathe to give us any costs, to consider. This might scare people off; people who would really like to have their own e-commerce site built for them, but are put off by the fact that they might look foolish by having to ask, "Well, how much will it cost me?" Speaking for myself, I would like to have an idea of some basic costings, just a thought on this matter. Best Ian
