Dear Marion,
I had to shame my husband into marrying me for many of these very reasons--he was waiting for the perfect time and financial situation. I knew I loved him and we were meant to be together.
So one day, I announced to my friends while we all had coffee that he would never marry me--why buy the cow when getting the milk for free. (Yes, we were living together, and yes, it really bothered my conscience.)
That was a Wednesday, and we were married the following Tuesday in a beautiful but extremely short ceremony at his mother's house. (It was February and cold, and everyone wanted back inside, lol.)
And we were married by a preacher.
We don't always see eye to eye on religion, but we do talk about God and try to keep Him in our lives and our marriage. In fact, it seems the problems we have had have always been worse when we have been too busy for God.
I want to thank you for this reminder to always take the time--for God, for family, for friends, and for living life to the fullest.
Sincerely,
|
