Unfortunately, Mahlon, you can't legislate morality. The more you try to force people to do the right thing-the less it works.
Of course, people should not gamble away, drink away or otherwise throw away money that their family needs, but people have to do the right thing because that is who they are-not because someone made them do it.
I don't gamble at all, not even card games (I'm an only child so I never learned how and besides I would rather shop.
I guess I see it as a slippery slope-What is there that cannot be misused and cause harm?
Think about it-over eating, over drinking, even over moralizing-we get fanatics that will kill others for not being "good" enough!
