Hi:
==========================================
It would seem, to me at least, that certain people are getting preferential treatment on these polls. When they get to the lead the poll is closed.
==========================================
I don't know if that is the case Gary, but I must say that this poll has to be one of the oddest I've ever followed. There doesn't seem to be any structure to it at all does there?? At least with most others I've seen, at least you know the deadline.
Well - let's look at this. Let's look at the dates of each of the "Person of the Week" events.
33rd Edition: March 6-12
Ashley Elias (Current)
34th Edition: March 13-19
Sarka Ksandrova
35th Edition: March 20-26
Holly Goodyer (poll closed today, March 12)
Considering that next weeks's winner has already been chosen and this is a vote for the winner two weeks from now, I'd say that's "odd" indeed.
Or is it?
The week that Bob won, the poll stayed open for a couple of weeks - right until the weekend before the winner would be featured.
I would say Gary is right on this one.
It is my personal opinion that since the "purpose" of Adland is for people to advertise and grow their businesses, that people DOING that should win. Thus, I have campaigned for people that I see doing that.
However, it is also my personal opinion that the entire "person of the week" feature is based on a closely knit clique. It is very seldom that anyone who is not a part of that clique wins. The only time people who are not part of that clique have won is when I, and members of this forum, have aggressively campaigned for them.
It seems that if someone that is not part of the clique is leading, the polls stay open longer. If someone that is not part of the clique is getting too close to someone that is part of it, the polls seem to close very fast. Often as much as 2 weeks before that person will be featured.
This is all my OPINION of course, but what I see gives me no reason to change that opinion.
We've all seen this kind of behaviour before, but you might have to think years and years back to remember it. It's called a clique and most of us can remember them from grade school.
If you don't like what you see, boycotting the "person of the week" votes solves nothing. It allows it to continue.
Remember the thread about the "one" word that is most important to any business? That word is "customers" - and at Adland, you are one of those.
If you don't like what you see, or think the votes are not being run consistently, here's what I suggest.
1) Contact the person that runs it, John Sanchez, and ask for a standard open and close date that doesn't vary from vote to vote.
2) Contact Bogdan and ask the same thing.
: )
