Re: How to Tell if You're Destined to Fail

Hi Linda, #'s is what it is all about! The "sales team" would need to sell 1,563 divide by 150 memmbers comes to 10.42 sale per team member a month. One person sales 10. The big difference is this the #'s of people rthat has to be reached to make the 10 or the 10.42 sales. If the one person from and advertising cost ads does not produce any better results that what a tems ads does it can make a big difference. This is what I mean; USA Today cost of an ad 20 word week day 486.00 per day. The one person get their ten sales clears 14.00 for the month. In reality they would not run the ad to start with I hope. If the team did it 3.24 each. The results may be the same as far as # of sales. But the team member loses is far more managable. The other point is this when people work as a team the ones that are not the great sales person can gain from the ones that are. The people that are great sales person on a real mlm team is willing to help the onse that are not for this reason. It helps their check as long as team members keep buy product themselfs. Thus group volume vs personal volume. Owning the mlm does have some great rewards! However it has some great risk and overhead to go with it. If an mlm company goes down, and many do. The member lose work they put into it and a few hunderd bucks. The owner however can loose millions of dollars. Math does not lie and you have some very go points, but it is not all about math as you brought out. I was speaking to a fellow marketer today about a mlm heath product company. I agreed with him that we all should buy these great health products. But I did not sign up. Why because I been there. We don't what we need always, but we all buy why we want. It is as I told him. I will make more money in my Travel business than I would in his health company. The reason is people love to travel, have fun and make money. Buy heath products every month is normall after someone looses their heath and is desperite to regain it. If they are health and buying it they tend to quit especially after they don't break even in a few months. But the point is what ever business your in it is stilla #'s game you have to get your offer out to as many as posible. Target market as tight as you can, then your surprised when someone you let's expected joins you. I do know a team of people can do more than a lone ranger ,in most cases! Have a great day! Johnny

Hi Linda, I have been trying to stay away from Adland for a while as it soaks up far too much of my time. But, I felt compelled to add to some of the conversation here on this topic. What you said about the numbers is quite true. I have said this before: Numbers don't lie. Words do. I'll give three simple examples that everyone will be familiar with: 1 - Have a look at any brochure from any bank. Look at the numbers (ie interest rates or other offers). What do you find? You find a little asterisk beside the numbers. 2 - Look at any company financial report. Look at the numbers (ie write downs, accounting "procedures"). What do you find? You find a little asterisk beside the numbers. 3 - Look at any company advertising in newspapers, on TV, magazines etc (ie "special" offers etc). What do you find? You find a little asterisk beside the numbers. So what does the little asterisk denote? It refers to what is known as the "fine print." These are the WORDS that EXPLAIN the numbers. In other words, they attempt to change the meaning of the numbers. It is an attempt to change 2 + 2 = 4 into 2 + 2 = 5, or at least "bend" the numbers. If you want to find the lies look for the words that accompany the numbers. Go to the asterisk. That is where the scandal will be found. Peter: ============================ "I feel that there is lot that could be said on this whole issue. I will however reserve my comments at this time as I have been bashed by the President of this team as well as other team members for voicing nothing more than opinion in the past. I have had posts deleted that were informative to people that might consider joining this adventure." ============================= Heh...heh... THAT made me smirk. You? Bashed? Er, what bikie gang did they enlist? Finally, Johnny... You said: ============================= "Math does not lie and you have some very go points, but it is not all about math as you brought out." ============================= Then, a bit further down in your post you stated: ============================= "I will make more money in my Travel business than I would in his health company." ============================= Wasn't your last statement all about math? So, to sum up, I agree with Linda. If the numbers don't stack up then they don't stack up. No amount of promises (or lies) or "explanation" or fine print or asterisks will change that. Numbers don't lie. Words do. Best Wishes Gary Simpson

Hi Johnny; Good to see you here! :) ========================================== when people work as a team the ones that are not the great sales person can gain from the ones that are. ========================================== And what do the ones who are good at sales gain? Nothing. They lose. See below... ========================================== I do know a team of people can do more than a lone ranger ,in most cases! ========================================== You might want to rethink that. Here's an example. Let's say Joe Blow has a product that sells for $100. He pays 50% commission. - Tom sells 20 copies. His profit; $1,000 - Dick sells 10 copies. His profit; $500 - Harry sells 0 copies. His profit; $0 - Joe Blow's profit; $1,500 Now, let's say Tom, Dick and Harry decide to 'team up' and share the profit. What do the numbers look like then? - Tom's profit: $500 - Dick's profit: $500 - Harry's profit: $500 - Joe Blow's profit; $1,500 What about a bigger team? A team where most of the people are like Harry and can't sell their way out of a wet paper bag? They will sit around hoping to make money off someone else's work... but anyone that CAN sell won't want to be part of the team because they know they will lose profit because of non performers. Know when teams work well? -- When you want to put a ball in the basket. -- When you want to put a puck in the net (and other sports) -- When you're Harry and can't sell -- And when you're Joe Blow & own the product For Tom - that concept doesn't work. He would be better off as a lone ranger. Know when a team "would" work? If Joe Blow trained each person as part of HIS sales team, and allowed each of them to keep 50% of the profit THEY make. THAT is incentive to perform. THAT is how teams work. It works for Joe Blow - and it works for all the people like Tom that will line up to keep the proceeds of their own hard work. But, making the performers lose profit to the non performers? All that will do is attract all the Harrys of the world. : ) Linda

Hi Gary; ========================================= So what does the little asterisk denote? It refers to what is known as the "fine print." These are the WORDS that EXPLAIN the numbers. ========================================= But, of course. It's in the 10 Commandments of Marketing. The big print giveth and the small print taketh away. It comes right before "I am sorry, but that is not in our policies." Didn't you know? lol : ) Linda

Hi Linda and everyone else! Gee! How did I miss this post? I have to agree, the numbers don't lie. Especially when it comes to simple math! Sadly though, a lot of people don't think in numbers, they think with emotions. -- Gary, Good to see you. Been wondering where you have been. How goes things in the land down under??
