Appetizers

I love appetizers, who doesn’t like appetizers?

What is an appetizer vs. hors d’oeuvres?

An appetizer is part of a meal that's served before the main course. You might serve your dinner guests an appetizer of crab-stuffed mushrooms when they first arrive for dinner. Usually, an appetizer is a small serving of food — just a few bites — meant to be eaten before an entrée, and often shared by several people. They say to our family, friends, or guests at dinner party welcome and enjoy. Appetizers set the tone for the oncoming meal. When having a drink with your friends, sharing appetizers (also known as bar food) defiantly enhances time together with family or friends.

Appetizers come in many forms. There are literally thousands of recipes plus whatever your imagination can think of.

Hors d’oeuvre is a small savory dish, typically one served as an appetizer at the beginning of a meal, therefore, they are virtually the same. Americans say appetizers and everyone else says hors d’oeuvres.

Hors d’oeuvres made modern: Today’s style of entertaining calls for fuss-free party foods that are easy to make and just as delicious as ever. With more than 200 recipes for tasty pre-dinner bites, substantial small plates, special occasion finger foods, and quick snacks to enjoy with drinks, Martha Stewart’s Appetizers is the new go-to guide for any type of get-together.
