You and he could converse in artistic lingo about brush strokes and palette and movement and all that.
I used to pick up a lot of knowledge from you two chaps:)

Joyce, I was thinking of Roger seconds before you posted your message, how I love sharing with him on art. I was reading a few posts from Dali's thread, seeing how Roger usually helps me see a painting from a different angle, which enrichs our exchanges. I terribly miss him at this thread.

I will take this opportunity to show a virtually unknown painting by Bouguereau - at least, unknown among us amateurs. It certainly deserves being exhibited and not for any particular qualities, which it undoubtedly has, but because it portrays a humble woman at work with the same finesse the artist wuld display to paint a queen.

In sharp contrast with the previous painting, Bouguereau's Bather of 1864 may have caused uproar for obvious reasons - particularly at this stage in his career.

This is a wonderful studio, in my opinion, worth a huge sum. When it was made is uncertain - any time between 1860 and 1870.
