At this point, dear friends, I would like to post some of the wonderful masterpieces that William Bouguereau painted near the turn of the century. I will begin with this Bacchante of 1894.

The Wave, below, is no doubt one of the most suggestive masterpieces ever painted by him - or, for that matter, by any artist in the world.

This one painting by Bouguereau is most famous - indeed with good cause, as all good qualities of an outstanding master work are present in it; and additionally for its mythological theme, in vogue at the time.

To say these two charming masterpieces are beautiful is an obvious understatement: they are extraordinary.

No comments here: the model's joie de vivre is so evident in this wonderful painting as was the artist's mastery in portraying her.
