Re: Question # 1

Hi Winston; Just a general one is okay at this point. Later, in the business plan segment, we'll go into more detail. Mostly, I wanted to get people to look at "who" they are selling to more than "what" they sell. See, a big stumbling block for a lot of people is having a kind of myopia that comes from looking at the product not the buyer. Take, for example, someone that sells vitamins. If I get them to *not* look at the fact that they sell vitamins, and look at the fact that they sell TO people that are health conscious, they can start to see more ways to reach out and find them. Good question, though. That's "edit note #1" for me. : ) Linda

Thanks Linda, That helps clarify things a lot. Though being overly analytical has its good points it also has its drawbacks as well! I sometimes take things to the extreme when its not needed! :-)

Hi Linda, I have read through and have started working on the exercises. Your way of writing makes things seem much simpler. I've seen a lot of this information before but your version was just easier to read and follow for me. Martha

Update - Changing Directions Slightly

This is pretty cool Linda. I've already determined that my business wouldn't be a viable idea on it's own. At least not without a LOT of work and possibly at great expense. Okay, that's not "cool" but its definitely not devastating! As a matter of fact it has opened the doors to another area of interest where there appears to be a lot of potential in which I can also implement my initial idea, only on a smaller scale. But it also opens the door for having more of my own products to offer. Which as we all know is better than selling someone elses as we have more control over cost and profit. Okay, I'm off again to do some more research.

Hi Winston; =================================== This is pretty cool Linda. =================================== Thank you! The whole idea of the first unit, as you're seeing, is to help people analyze an idea before they "do" it. =================================== I've already determined that my business wouldn't be a viable idea on it's own. At least not without a LOT of work and possibly at great expense. Okay, that's not "cool" but its definitely not devastating! =================================== But much better to figure out financial viability and possible profit before jumping in. That's what causes the most disappointment for people. They jump in and find out after the fact that their idea, on it's own, just can't fly. =================================== As a matter of fact it has opened the doors to another area of interest where there appears to be a lot of potential in which I can also implement my initial idea, only on a smaller scale. But it also opens the door for having more of my own products to offer. Which as we all know is better than selling someone elses as we have more control over cost and profit. =================================== Good! With most "ideas" that people have, it's not so much that they aren't viable, but that they may need to look at their complete offerings to see if they can make the kind of profit they want. For example, it's awfully hard to get rich on a product that you make $2 profit on - but if it brings in people that will buy a product you make more profit on, then there's a purpose for the low profit item. Your post made me smile. If it's helping you create a good foundation - well, that's what I'd hoped it would do. The next step is a website business plan, which I'll have ready about Wed/Thurs this coming week. : ) Linda
