Miguel,

you will like this article. Thought provoking?

Yes Roger, I sure liked it. Actually it's not that incredible that the Church, more specifically the Inquisition, posed a threat to free artistic spirits like Salvator Rosa in as late as the eighteenth-nineteenth centuries: if I remember well, in times of our parents all books had to have an "Imprimatur" authorization from the Church before they could be published. I myself remember seeing those books and the special inscription on their first pages in my uncles' homes.

Even Goya was under investigation by the 'Holy' Inquisition for many years, and while this is mentioned only in passing in the few sites that I have visited in my research of him, it remains a fact that they kept an all-embracing power over most souls in almost all of Europe and in Central and South America well into the Twentieth century.

Thanks for pointing me to the article, I really enjoyed it.

Miguel

This posting is dedicated to Branka Babic

Branka was an inspiration to so many.

Born in Croatia, Branka made us all aware that the human spirit can survive terrible life experiences and that those that wish to can learn and use those experiences positively for others.

Branka, you are missed but remain part of this community.

This great Croation artist's work is my little dedication to your life

Sir Roger,

Isn't Branka the one that gave you that name? Thanks for this post.

Thank you for your post here Myrna.

The Sir thing came from Branka and our lovely Angel loving friend in France, Sarah Pritchard.

I still miss my chats with Brankas son Luka too.
