I saw this on image FB https://www.facebook.com/AmericanWhiteHistoryMonth2 and I said hmmm... I wonder if this statistic is correct. i have seen crews of 12-15 living in a 2 br apartment and said this is how they live mostly here in the US.

Why?

They the immigrants tend to have families they are sending money to bring them here and when their families get here they will live Americans.

Our homeless Vets are often folks needing mental help and there are not enough or any facilities for them with 12 years of war creating more of these type case while treating the most serious cases. Makes me ask where all that off budget military money has went and on budget too. As there is a HUGE amount of waste and theft in the military.

The point is I have seen both sides and its just the facts.

What's the solution, the right solution for the US, and not necessarily a PC solution is gonna work here, and protect our constitution.

Sometimes there is no need for reasoning. Even a liberal mental case would have to agree this just too funny not to share about their fearless billionaire and benmefactor playboy Georgie (Porky) Soros! ROFLMAO

George Soros asks judge to keep ex-lover’s details private to prevent his ‘embarrassment’

George Soros wants the dirty details revealed about him during his legal battle with his half-century younger ex-girlfriend Adriana Ferreyr kept from the public.

Attorneys for Soros, who was reportedly struck in the head by Ferreyr during a Tuesday deposition, are asking a judge to prevent public access to certain details to shield Soros from “annoyance” and “embarrassment,” according to the New York Post.

Now his attorney, LA-based attorney-to-the-stars Martin Singer, is afraid Ferreyr’s lawyer will disclose “confidential information” about his client.

The sensitive documents include “medical information, personal financial information, and intimate details regarding the private lives of the parties and non-parties (including, most extensively, Mr. Soros’ wife),” according to court papers filed by Singer on Feb. 11.

Singer wants Justice Debra James to prevent public access to the information that could cause Soros an “unreasonable annoyance, expense, embarrassment … or disadvantage.”

Soros is being sued by Ferreyr for reneging on a promise to gift her a $10 million New York City apartment, which was instead given to Soros’ new wife, Tomiko Bolton. She is only 41 years younger than Soros.

On a recent episode of ABC This Week former Clinton labor secretary Robert Reich tried to blame Republicans for the increase in poverty since Obama took office on Republicans, Newt Gingrich called it “baloney” and fired back, “Every major city which is a center of poverty is run by Democrats”

Watch the fun!

Partial Transcript:

JONATHAN KARL, SUBSTITUTE HOST: And let me ask you, Mr. Gingrich, Speaker, when you look at that issue of inequality – and this is something he’s put front and center, the Pope has. It’s something of course that President Obama talks a lot about. We saw the story about homelessness in New York–

NEWT GINGRICH, FORMER SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE: Sure.

KARL: Stark reality of the gap in the nation’s biggest city. Is this an issue that Republicans should be talking about?

GINGRICH: Absolutely. I mean, how can you justify the level of wealth in those big towers in New York City and the level of poverty in those alleys? And without talking about government, say, surely a society that cared, that believed every person was endowed by their creator with the right to pursue happiness, would come up with a better solution than 22,000 children that are homeless.

And I think that the Republican Party has an obligation to rethink some of its indifference to the very poor. And I think the Democrats have an obligation to ask themselves after 50 years of the war on poverty, isn’t it clear that government is not a very good [unintelligible].

(CROSSTALK)

ROBERT REICH: The war on poverty – which next year we are going to celebrate the 50th anniversary in addition to the Civil Rights Act – the war on poverty was successful for a time. What has happened however over the last 30 years is that much of the, much of the ardor, much of the concern, much of the, what propelled that war on poverty has dissipated.

KARL: Why after five years of President Barack Obama we see the problem worse?

REICH: Well the problem is worse; I think it has something to do, perhaps, with the intransigence of the Speaker’s Party, because every time there was a jobs bill, every time there was an effort to expand a low income housing, every time there was an effort to provide better opportunities for young people. We’re talking about equal opportunity.

GINGRICH: Every major, every, this is baloney.

REICH: At the basis of this, what is baloney?

GINGRICH: Here’s the baloney. Every major city which is a center of poverty is run by Democrats. Every major city. Their policies have failed, they’re not willing to admit and the fact is it’s the poor who suffer from bad [unintelligible].

I know that most rank and file liberals have good intentions and truly want to help the poor, but the fact is liberal ideas have been proven to create and increase poverty wherever and whenever they are tried. What do you think?

Venezuela protests: demonstrators tell us why they're taking part

We asked protesters in Venezuela why they have taken part in the anti-government demonstrations. Here is a selection of their views

Scenes of political turmoil have swept across Venezuela as citizens protest against unemployment, a rise in violent crime and surging inflation.

Demonstrators have also been protesting against the detention of opposition leader Leopoldo López, who surrendered to authorities on Wednesday after making a speech to thousands of supporters.

The government has claimed the protests and clashes are the early stages of a US-backed attempted coup. Recent weeks have also seen pro-government rallies and protests in support of the President, Nicolás Maduro.

Guardian readers below share their reasons for supporting and taking part in the protests. Live in Venezuela? Whether you support the protests or are part of the pro-government rallies, share your views in the comments thread below, or via GuardianWitness.

“It would be easier to ask why we would not protest”

Venezuelans have a million reasons to protest. We have one of the highest murder rates in the world – two people per hour – rampant inflation at a rate of 60% a year, basic products like milk, oil, sugar, chicken are not available in supermarkets, if we want to travel we have to go through a bureaucratic nightmare to be able to buy foreign currency limited to less than £2000 a year, we have no liberty of expression if we do not concur with the governments ideas we are completely ignored. We are protesting for our lives and our dignity.

Scosti

“Scarcity of everyday goods is raising, corruption is rampant...”

Official numbers put 2013 inflation rate at around 56% and murder casualties at more than 24000, two numbers that have only increased during 15 years. Scarcity of everyday goods is raising, corruption is rampant... but instead of listening to the protests who very accurately point at the government, what we have gotten is repressive use of the public force AND armed civil gangs which has resulted in at least 6 deaths, hundreds of injured and dozens of students in jail. All of this has been silenced from national media because of heavy censorship. We’re sick of hearing this sorry excuse for a president to blame “the Empire” and the “far-right” as culprits of his own mess.

Julio Gutierrez

“The reality is it is becoming a failed state”

I have lived in Venezuela for 19 years and seen many opposition and government marches. Violence is actually not that common but escalates when the opposition grows. The present reason for demonstrations is caused by the mismanagement of the oil revenue which is quite considerable along with corruption and has been going on for years.

There are many shortages and rationing... you cannot find margarine, sugar, P.A.N arena (maize), flour, toilet paper, washing up liquid, bleach, and milk and bread are rationed from shop owners. Cement, car parts, foreign goods too. It is almost impossible to buy an international air ticket as airlines have not been allowed to change the soft Bolivar for hard currency so they don’t sell tickets in Venezuela but you can buy the same flights in dollars at the arrival location.

Jobs are few and a reasonable salary is about £50/month... people are a lot worse off due to inflation and devaluation. Crime and the murder rate are one of the highest in the world.

Venezuelan people, all of them want and deserve better. Everyone is complaining, including government tied voters.

Finally Venezuela politics does not fit “left or right wing”. Venezuela severely lacks both capitalism (business) and socialism (social benefits) and the reality is it is becoming a failed state.

Carambaman

“This is about power and dictatorship”

After Hugo Chavez was elected president, we started a journey of lies, manipulations and abuse of power. The last presidential elections in Venezuela was full of illegalities and, with it, we have lived a year of severe inflation, food and medicine shortages, impunity, negligence, high rates of murders and much more. The reaction of the government has been always to pretend that nothing is going on or to blame opposition of everything, but we just got fed up with being abused and threatened.

I have been robbed twice, I cannot find basic products in the supermarkets such as milk, toilet paper and chicken, I have to ask my friends to buy my medicine (for hypothyroidism) abroad, if I take public transportation I could be robbed by young thieves asking for money (forcing you to give them a “contribution” or suffer the consequences), I can buy red meat one week, let’s say at 5 GB pounds, and the next week I have to pay 8 GB pounds, and so on. Students have been stolen, threatened and even raped within the universities and that is why they decided to massively protest against the situation. During the protest, Venezuelan “special” forces shoot against them and killed and hurt students while they were running for their lives. The reaction of the government was to blame opposition for promoting violence against them. They never assume the responsibility about nothing.

Harvard writer: Free speech threatens liberalism and must be destroyed

Read more: http://dailycaller.com/2014/02/23/harvard-writer-free-speech-threatens-liberalism-and-must-be-destroyed/#ixzz2uMtTJZfN

If this Harvard University student got her way, free speech on campus would be abolished and professors with dissenting views fired, because radical leftism is the only permissible political philosophy and the First Amendment is a barrier preventing modern colleges from fulfilling their proper role as indoctrination camps.

Her name is Sandra Korn. She is a senior at Harvard and columnist for the Harvard Crimson.

In a recent column, Korn unambiguously insisted that the university should stop guaranteeing professors and students the right to hold controversial views and pursue research that challenges liberalism.

“If our university community opposes racism, sexism, and heterosexism, why should we put up with research that counters our goals?” asked Korn in her column.

The column’s subtitle was even more direct: “Let’s give up on academic freedom in favor of justice.”

Korn cited several instances of perspectives that clashed with her own being banned from campus as triumphant examples of the way Harvard should be run. The firing of Subramanian Swamy, a Harvard summer school instructor who was dismissed for his anti-Islamic views, was one such triumph.

She also invoked the academic boycott of Israel — something condemned by Harvard President Drew Faust and numerous other university presidents — as an example of the kind of tactics leftists should defend and use in order to get their way on campus.

Korn did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Her sharp rejection of intellectual freedom — a value enshrined by U.S. law and central to the success of American institutions of higher learning — is common among left-wing activists at elite colleges. Last week, Erin Ching, a sophomore at Swarthmore College, took a similar view when she criticized her university for committing the unforgivable crime of allowing a conservative — Christian thinker Robert George — to speak on campus.

“What really bothered me is, the whole idea is that at a liberal arts college, we need to be hearing a diversity of opinion,” she said, according to the Daily Gazette. “I don’t think we should be tolerating [George’s] conservative views because that dominant culture embeds these deep inequalities in our society.”

George, a Swarthmore alumnus, came to campus to debate Cornell West.

Pro-life students at the University of Alabama were victims of a similar belief that conservative views should not be publicly espoused on campus. (RELATED: U. of Alabama censors pro-life students for ‘offensive’ poster)

And at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, merely emailing an inoffensive .gif of President Barack Obama kicking a door triggers an investigation. The perpetrator was forced to apologize for committing a racial insensitivity. (RELATED: Student forced to apologize for emailing pic of Obama kicking a door, because RACISM)
