Re: The Most Remarkable Thing

Linda, Thanks so much for this insight into success. My mother has always said "it is NOT whether the glass is HALF empty or HALF full" and then she would continue "We know it is HALF something, but the question is - what'cha gonna do with that glass"? I always used to laugh and say "I'm not gonna do nothing with that glass." Of course that was the wrong answer LOL! My mom would start in on her discourse of all the options I had available with that glass; (i.e., I could break it, I could tip it upset down, I could leave it as it currently was, I could pour the water out, etc.) Of course the valuable message was this: I had options available to me todo something 1.) I could be creative and paint the glass thereby disquishing the contents 2.) I could pour out the liquid and have an empty glass 3.) I could leave the glass as it was - status quo. Etc. If that glass of "Half empty" "Half full" fluid gets knocked over it is just an opportunity to be creative and utilize that glass in another unique way to be successful. Nonetheless, to be successful - change is a must. Be blessed in 2006' Your friend, Classic Corners www.classicwebstore.com

Hi Janise; I remember the first time my brother asked me that question. I told him half of the glass is filled with water, and the other half is filld with air, therefore the glass is neither half full NOR half empty. It's full. He told me I was a smart*ss. ;) Linda P.S. And you're right - change is an essential part of success.

Hi Linda, My Grandfather used to always tell me that you will never get anywhere in life by having it handed to you. You have to know how to takes the bumps along the way or you will end up laying at the side of the road watching the world go by. Your Good Friend Deborah

Hi Linda, Did I tell you I enjoyed visiting your site? http://www.LindaCaroll.com Very nicely done - very professional. ...The key - is getting back up. Well said. I once worked with a man who knew how to get up, in my (forgive me) door-to-door insurance sales days, who told me the story of a young man he worked with once. At the end of the day, when they met at the office, the young man told him that he had a terrible day. Someone had insulted him! My friend said to him, "Hmmmm... I've been knocked down, punched, yelled at, kicked, had the door slammed in my face, called names, had dogs sicked on me, threatened, and sworn at.... but for the life of me, I can't ever remember someone insulting me!!" That man REALLY knew how to get back up! And he made a great living, too. It is so true that molly-coddling someone isn't going to help them grow - it may make them like you in the short term, but sooner or later they might realize that you're just trying to make yourself look good and you're not doing them an ounce of good! Speaking of animal stories, I really enjoyed a scene from Walt Disney's, "The Lion King." (OK, I enjoyed the whole movie! :) ) In the scene, the old baboon witch doctor whacked the lion over the head with a big stick. The lion yelled, "What did you do that for?!" The old baboon said, "Doesn't matter! It's in the past!" That's the way we need to look at life when we get knocked down. We need to scramble quickly to our feet so we can look ahead and say of our tumble, "It doesn't matter! It's in the past!" God bless, Dave

Hi Dave: Thanks for the compliment on my site. :) Hey, I worked as an insurance salesrep briefly. (I was about 19, maybe) That didn't last long, though. The snow flew shortly after I took the job. When the radio announcer says "exposed flesh freezes in 59 seconds" it's hard to find incentive to do any door to door selling. ========================================= In the scene, the old baboon witch doctor whacked the lion over the head with a big stick. The lion yelled, "What did you do that for?!" The old baboon said, "Doesn't matter! It's in the past!" ========================================= I laughed so hard I woke my cat up. I loved that scene. Just loved that scene. Hilarious. And you're right. That's how we need to react. Just brush off the old britches as you keep on going. : ) Linda
