Nearer Still Nearer

By Rev. Dean Beaty 4/12/12

James 4:8 “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you…” (KJV)

Does your daily walk bring you closer to the Lord?

As each day goes by do you grow in sweet accord?

With our daily cares we are pulled in many ways.

Does your Christian walk suffer in these days?

We all have cares of life: loved ones, home and work.

Natural things of life, the things we cannot shirk.

Don’t leave out the Lord for He’s special to our life,

More important than - the love of man and wife.

With all things in God’s care; the worlds to keep in space.

By Him all things consist, then too the human race. *

There’s none outside God’s care, even sparrows when they fall.

Still He’s not too busy to hear us when we call.

As God takes time for us, with our fellowship so dear,

Take special time each day and unto Him draw near.

He’s the “KING of KINGS,” the God of time and space.

Still He’s not too busy to meet us face to face.

We’re God’s special children adopted unto Him.

In His eternal crown we’re to be a sparkling gem.

How special is that time, to walk beside the King?

He’s waiting for you now. What joy that time will bring.

* Colossians 1:16-17 “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.”

Contented Christians

By Rev Dean Beaty 4/4/12

Philippians 4:11-13 “Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned,

in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” (KJV)

To this truth found in God’s Word we should build a monument.

“In whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.”

God has promised in His Word to supply our every need.

But to expect our every want, God won’t supply our greed.

Contentment shows our trust in God to always do what’s right.

The eyes of men are never full in wanting all in sight. *

The unsaved man wants more and more. This life is all he sees.

He has no home in heaven that our Father guarantees.

Where a person’s treasure lies, that’s where his heart is too.

Keep your eyes upon the prize that lies beyond the blue.

Christ had nowhere to lay His head and yet He was content.

He trusted God to meet His needs; yes this is what He meant.

Our Father owns the cattle that roam a thousand hills.

His reserves are vastly more than what backs our dollar bills.

Godliness with contentment, Paul tells us is “great gain.” **

Wanting more than God supplies will cause our joy to drain.

* Proverbs 27:20 “Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of

man are never satisfied.”

** I Timothy 6:6-8 “But godliness with contentment is great gain. For

we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry

nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.”

All Scriptures used are from the King James Bible.

A Certain Future

By Rev. Dean Beaty 4/14/12

John 14:1-3 “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God,

believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it

were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive

you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” (KJV)

We have a certain future with Jesus Christ our Lord.

For He paid our debt of sin which we could not afford.

It was secured forever by the blood of Jesus Christ.

Not with all the gold on earth could it e’er be priced.

There is no other payment for there’s just one Son of God.

Any other sacrifice would be completely flawed.

A perfect lamb was needed. No sin could taint its blood.

Jesus was that perfect Lamb. We’re washed beneath that flood.

That’s why our future’s certain, cause Christ died for all our sin.

‘Twas buried and the third day our Savior rose again.

Now seated with the Father He’s alive forevermore.

Christ promised life eternal. For us that’s what’s in store.

Search your Bible daily. Don’t leave it on the shelf.

It is clear within God’s Word. You can read it for yourself.

We have a certain future. With this our hearts are stirred.

This is the Christian’s hope* based on Christ’s promised word.

* The Christian hope = “Confident expectation”

I Peter 1:3-5 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are kept by

the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

The Holy Spirit’s Help in Prayer

By Rev. Dean Beaty 4/9/12

Romans 8:26-28 “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” (KJV)

I’m thankful for God’s Spirit for when I pray at night,

He takes the words I pray and makes them turn out right.

I know not what to pray for exactly in God’s will,

For God may have a purpose for why my friend is ill.

Nothing is impossible for God has all the might.

I just have to trust Him that He will do what’s right.

When someone’s need is great, beyond all human skill,

I know that God is able if it is in His will.

Who knows the mind of God? For certain it’s not me! *

But I can trust God’s wisdom for that much I can see.

I look into the heavens and see His mighty power.

I see His works of beauty in every blooming flower.

Much more I could mention, new things are learned each day.

I know that I can trust Him though I know not how to pray.

So I’m thankful for God’s Spirit for when I pray at night,

He takes the words I pray and makes them turn out right.

* I Corinthians 2:16 “For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that

he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.” (KJV)

Unsearchable Riches

By Rev. Dean Beaty 4/5/12

Ephesians 3:8-9 “Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is

this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable

riches of Christ; And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the

mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God,

who created all things by Jesus Christ:” (KJV)

My sins have been so many and my righteous deeds so few.

I wonder my dear Father how I am loved by you?

Only by Thy mercies can I find peace with Thee.

Only by Thy gift of grace is my sinful soul set free.

Thy mercies new each morning refresh me day by day.

Thy love draws me close to Thee as I walk the narrow way.

Grace gives to me pardon of the sins that I confess. *

Faithful and Just to forgive and cleanse unrighteousness.

The Spirit guides my footsteps that lead to righteousness.

My feeble prayers He makes right in words I can’t express.

Even when I falter, for my feet are still of clay,

He gives me peace and comfort as He draws me to The Way.

To us He’s always faithful. His Word is always true.

This is why we worship Christ, for to Him all praise is due.

This is why we praise the Lord in word and song each day?

May Christ name be lifted up in everything we say.

* I John 1:9-10 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us

our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have

not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.” (KJV)
