Dear friends,

I would like to showcase now three amazing works by Thomas Cole. They are most inspiring (which of his works is not?) but have been chosen a little by chance. The one in the middle is of such an ethereal quality; in my opinion, it reveals an extraordinary sense of beauty from the part of its creator. The one at the bottom belongs in his European period.

These are the most beautiful paintings. Looking at the little island reminds me of the Native Americans. Do you think he might be meditating? There is the canoe ready when needed.

On the cabin painting the detail is extraordinary and the distant mountains are outstanding.

I love the balance of simplicity and detail on the American lake scene too.

The composition is perfect balance, lots of light and water and then that great naturalistic work on the islands.
