Oh my.

That Chuch painting blew me away.

I might try to get a copy framed.

Hello Roger,

I have just read at Wikipedia that Church, while committed to the natural sciences, was "always concerned with including a spiritual dimension in his works" (the quote is from
Büttner, Nils (2006). Landscape Painting: A History. New York: Abbeville Press Publishers. pp. 283–28). Below is a great painting by him which, if I remember well, was posted in one of your forums on art maybe a year ago. I remember reading about his visiting South America at the time he was most active. If I am not mistaken, the big snow-capped mountain in the background is the Chimborazo vulcano in Ecuador - a small country in the north of my own country, Peru.

Hugs,

Miguel

Miguel,

You are right, I did postthis back last year.

A wonderful painting.

Yes, there is more than just beautiful scenic beauty in his work.

I look forward to more of theThomas Cole works.

So beautiful.

I love the little details like the smoke in the distance on the first two paintings. This brings the painting to life, like movement in animal subjects.

A master of perspective too.
