Hi Evelyn and Myrna

Clydesdales are beautiful horses. They are generally not considered riding horses but rather work horses usually doing the hardest work around a farm.

I was raised on a farm and we had 2 Clydesdales, a mare called Queenie and a gelding called Baldy. Ironically, I don't remember that we ever bred our horses so there never were colts.

A person sure doesn't appreciate the farm until years after leaving it. I couldn't wait to get off the farm but now I see how fortunate we were.

Hi Helen,

I too was raised on a farm and I agree with you 100 %. After you are no longer on the farm, you find out how much you miss it. Hard work, but it was the best of the best.

Love all the animals, had all kinds of pets. The funniest pet I had was a chicken. Her name was Nancy. Nancy was sick a lot and my grandmother would feed her powdered glass and it would fix her up every time. Nancy would ride around on my shoulder, she was so cute. She died a natural death too. I think Nancy was only one who ever escaped the axe. Fond memory of my dear chicken, Nancy.

Hello ladies and good Friday morning to you. I too was raised on a farm but when I was growing up that was the norm in my neck of the woods. Myrna when you mentioned having a pet chicken brought back memories of when I was a very young child and my mom would order chickens through the mail and I can remember how excited I was when the mailman delivered them. I have no idea how far they traveled in that cardboard box but the amazing thing to me was they all arrived alive but it's a wonder they stayed alive because we kids would play with them for a few days before my mom put them in the chicken lot with the grown hens and roosters. Amazing isn't it what we remember from our early childhoods. Hope you both have a wonderful weekend. :)
