Hello ladies, as soon as I cook the Quinoa I will let you know how it turns out and Helen I buy the instant brown rice and have for some time. I use it in place of crackers in soup or chili and it cooks in about 10 minutes but am also interested in how you cook it. Have wonderful weekend. :)

Hello Myrna and Evelyn and all

There all sorts of recipes on YouTube using Quinoa. Just put Quinoa in the Search box at YouTube and you will see what I mean. Some look really interesting and they look like they are easy to do. There's even a video on how to cook it alone ...you know, like rice. It takes about 10 minutes to cook it and then it is ready to use in recipes.

Here's something I am going to try....

Cook/steam some red, green and yellow vegs such as carrots, broccoli and yellow peppers. Drain off water, if any.

Do not cook vegs with the Quinoa. You may not like the taste. Cook them separately.

Lightly saute onions.

Gather together salt, some spices such as a bit of chili peppers, Italian spices etc

Then I will cook some meat in another skillet. I like cubes or small pieces of chicken or turkey or cut up Italian sausage (No, I'm not Italian) or beef or pork and beef. I only use enough meat to add flavor.

Once the meat is cooked, I will put the cooked Quinoa, the vegs, the spices and salt into the skillet with the meat and mix them all together. Serve. Yummy.

This recipe can also be used with brown rice. I call it my Sticky Rice Pilaf. Yummy.

One day I must give you an easy way to cook brown rice without having to wait an hour for it to cook. Remind me. I never use a microwave for anything.

Helen

Hi Evelyn and Helen,

I have brought some Quinoa some time ago because I read where it is so good for you, but haven't looked it up on how to use it. Looking forward to hear how it turns out. It is time to get a different more healthy way of cooking. I don't think I am too old to do that. You know what they say about old dogs and new tricks. lol

Maybe you can afford to wait. Maybe for you there's a tomorrow. Maybe for you there's one thousand tomorrows, or three thousand, or ten, so much time you can bathe in it, roll around it, let it slide like coins through you fingers. So much time you can waste it. But for some of us there's only today. And the truth is, you never really know.
