After reading the last post I had to share a kind of
one sided conversation with you. not really a conversation,
just mind set of one member here that needs some help.

May I have your attention for a moment.

We all know how new members and some of the old ones come

into forums and just start opening up new threads and posting

their advertisements even when they are instructed not to.

Well it happens to me often and I would send it back to them and

point out that it does not belong there. Most understand and it does

not happen again and then we have this new member that needs to go

to the next step and lets me know who he really is.

So you all have a understanding as you may run across or deal

with him, you have an idea as the mental attitude you are dealing with.

What would you do and your thoughts on this?

This is a message I sent to Anthony Mile after posting in

The AdlandPro Learning Center and in others forums too.

"This does not belong here and will be removed. check forums and post ads where they are aloud and don't get listed as a spammer with no regards to the forum owners and what they are there for."

His posting labeled "Help" have you seen it?

Lydia as you know, I do not know any of the Russian language but thankfully, a picture or a video, is worth a thousand words and looks like you've brought us a video from the Russian version of the X Factor. Thanks, I really enjoyed it. :)

Good morning Malorie, you have brought us yet again another thought provoking post and I for one appreciate it. I, too, am one that will digress a lot of times but I also think I'm a good listener but then I might be wrong, would have to ask some of my friends or family what they think. :)

“I DIGRESS”

conversation-300x231.jpg

The beauty of conversation is that one subject generally leads to another. It is rather like a good ping pong game. Once you get the ball going it is invigorating keeping it in play. You almost want to hang onto the moment and hope it lasts for a long time.

Then there is the moments when you are with someone who is more then able to carry the conversation all by themselves. They very much want you there to listen to them but they do not want so much to have your input into what is being said. They may stop long enough to ask how you are or what is going on in your life but once you start telling them they take what you say and use it to direct the conversation back around to themselves.

There is also those who “digress”. I knew a lovely gentleman who was talented at this. His train would start out on one track and get sidetracked by many many other side tracks. On his way to one point he would think of another and start talking about that which would bring up yet another and off we would go and so on until his original point was almost forgotten. What was funny and almost endearing is that he was well aware of this habit and after much digression would chastise himself about digressing.

I have honed my skills as a good listener because of these type of people.

I consider myself a fairly okay conversationalist, predominately, however there are times my train leaves the station knowing the track and destination but somewhere while I am talking the destination gets lost. Leaving me saying “there was a reason I was telling you all this” and looking confused. Thankfully my family is use to my train jumping the tracks. :-)

Conversation stimulates our minds and emotions, connects us spiritually, entertains us, informs us and helps us interact socially.

The great secret of succeeding in conversation is to admire little, to hear much; always to distrust our own reason, and sometimes that of our friends; never to pretend to wit, but to make that of others appear as much as possibly we can; to hearken to what is said and to answer to the purpose.

Hi Mark, good post and I too was having that problem of people starting new threads, even though I stated right up front that any new threads or ads would be deleted. A good friend told me how to put a stop to it and right now I can't remember exactly but I think if you go to the edit there's an option you can activate to make your forums restricted and therefore no one can start a new thread. After I edited mine there has been no more problems of people starting new threads. I did, however, have to ban one person because he kept posting ads in my forum and I even sent him a personal message asking him not to do it but he ignored me and the last time he posted an ad I banned him from my forum. You hate to have to ban anyone but sometime that is the only option unless you want your thread filled with ads.
