Very nice. I have heard many people sing this song that I was surprised to notice that Andy Williams had sung it and cannot recall him singing this at all. Andy has sung many great songs over the years - gosh is he still alive?

Hello Evelyn,

I hope you still have a couple minutes to read this. Or if not you, maybe your friends and visitors.
Do you remember Alfred Hitchcock's Charade? Maybe not the movie, but then Henry Mancini's theme song for the film, which was quite a success for a good while, everywhere. I thought of showing it here in my own modest version (http://www.singsnap.com/karaoke/r/b3770c462) if you don't mind.

Thank you,

Miguel

Hi Amanda, you were missed those couple of days too. :) I'm glad you enjoyed the Hager twins videos. I think dying so close together is something that happens a lot with twins. I know how lost my aunt was when her identical twin sister died and she didn't live too long after that. They both lived to be in their 70's and were inseparable all through life even though they both married and raised families. I think twins are just naturally closer, whether identical or not.

Hi Evelyn
It has been a couple of days since I was over here last..trying to catch up.
I had never heard of the Hager Twins but I did enjoy the videos you shared and was quite surprised they died so young with a year between. Country lost two great entertainers.

Does anyone remember the Hager twins - Jon and Jim from Hee Haw? For some reason I missed their passing on and just now learned of it.
According to Wikipedia, Jim Hager died of an apparent heart attack on May 1, 2008 in Nashville, Tennessee and Jon died in his sleep on January 9, 2009, also in Nashville.
Here is a tribute video to Jon and Jim Hager:

Amanda, Andy Williams is still alive although he's 83 and battling bladder cancer. Here are a couple of songs by him and knowing how you like to follow along with the lyrics they're included too.

Andy Williams singing Moon River. The song was composed by Henry Mancini (music) and Johnny Mercer (lyrics). It became a theme song for Andy Williams, who recorded it in 1961.

The song 'Strangers In The Night' was composed by Bert Kaempfert with English lyrics by Charles Singleton and Eddie Snyder. Andy Williams sings this song here.

Hi Evelyn,

I love Jackie's voice. Superbly amazing. I hope she'll continue to amaze us for many, many years.

One correction though, Matthew Evancho isn't her brother but her uncle.

Shalom,

Peter

Hello Amanda

From pagan times, we kept the custom - on Shrove Tuesday pancakes. Once it was the sacrificial bread, the gift of the god Perun and other pagan gods. This symbol of the sun accompanied the winter and spring were met.

Pagans believe that, together with heat, herbs and birds return to earth souls of the dead, which will help them, and therefore the first attempt is usually placed on the "spirits" window - for the souls of their ancestors: "At Shrovetide the first attempt - for the repose."

The international family

All kinds of recipes for favorite foods were invented in different parts of the earth! For example, the Germans and French have long favored a thin Blinken, rolled in rolls with different fillings. On the test for a lot of experimenting pancakes and English, who invented it to add a local ale and malt flour. Mexicans joined the family of the famous tortilla pancake, which wrapped bean or meat filling and tomato sauce. And Americans in particular relished thick pancakes, more reminiscent of pancakes with maple syrup and bacon.

From time immemorial

Pancakes have long occupied a worthy place in the house of each family. But whence came to us this dish? The first mention of pancakes, we find in the annals of 1000-1006 years. At that time the Russian people worshiped pagan gods, and the pancakes were the values of sacrifice. Its shape was circular, resembling the sun, worshiped at the time.

The story of a very simple and interesting. While the pudding is cooked oatmeal, which was one of the main dishes. One day, tired and hungry man came to his home. After a day decided to warm up a jelly, and gazed into the distance, thick fried, browned, and there was a new dish - pancakes. A new recipe has gained popularity quickly and continuously improved. In Russia, baked pancake from different flour: used oatmeal, wheat, buckwheat, sometimes blended different varieties. The filling was chosen as a diverse, it can be sweet or salty. The dough is always prepared sponge method, use baking soda already begun in modern times.

The struggle for leadership

Pancakes - one of the earliest products of Russian cuisine. The word "damn" - distorted "mlýn" from the verb "to grind". "Melin" or "mlýn" means the product of namelennogo, ie flour product. This is probably the most economical flour dish that requires a minimum of flour at a maximum liquid (water, milk) because crepe batter is used very diluted. Further increase the volume of the test yeast.

In the old days in France, tried to declare a national French dish of pancakes. But is there in the world agricultural peoples who can not bake pancakes? So what about this claim of the French laugh, and more! Later on the "patriots" who want to declare a purely Russian blini dish laughed and Russia. Pancakes - a very ancient dish, invented long before the wheel.

Historians are pretty sure that even in pagan times, the pancakes were a fixture of the celebration of the Spring solstice - a turning point, symbolizing the victory of light over the day-long winter nights may be why this product is a cheerful, paradoxically, was associated with the rites of remembrance (for spring solstice symbolized the death of Winter) . Pancakes were a fixture of all funerals, memorial services and even weddings (like when she was dying - and became a woman.) Therefore, first baked pancake is usually intended for the souls of dead ancestors. His or placed on a window, or gave to a beggar - in remembrance of the deceased.

With the heat from the heat

Thus, even in times of Peter I during Carnival in Moscow, in the Alexander Garden, built out of ice slides, and Peter I himself participated in the mass festivities, in particular, he liked to swing on a swing to the officers that are specifically established by this time. Despite the fact that Peter was an ardent supporter of the entry of Western innovations in culture and in cooking in the Russian way of life, he was very fond of pancakes, and did not deny himself the pleasure to enjoy them.

Pancakes have a history of more ancient than the actual Carnival. Some historians believe that in ancient Egypt began to bake bread from sour dough pancakes analogue, and it occurred about 5000 years ago.

Hello Lydia,
Now these look more the size and thickness of pancakes I am use to seeing growing up and when I make them myself which is not very often.
I had a wonderful friend whom grew up in the Netherlands and immigrated to NZ whom made her country's style pancake which she filled then rolled into a cylinder - I cannot recall what fruit or how she did the fruit now as it is so long ago, I just remember how tasty the pancakes were.
Pancakes seem to be a very universal dish. Does anyone know where it originated from?

The pancake week is necessary for a week previous the Great post. The pancake week is, first of all, plentiful and nourishing food, and also round dances, songs, dancings, games.

In a traditional life always was considered, that the person who has lead Pancake Week badly and boringly, it will be unlucky within all year.
