Kathleen, wait until you're my age and you'll find those minutes just fly by in no time, as do the days, the weeks, the months and the years. I agree though that we have to not only focus on our goals, but have time to meditate and renew our spirits. :)

Hi Mary Evelyn,
It's only been recently in the last few years that I've really started thinking about minutes in comparison to pennies...(or more value than that).
Some people get annoyed when I ask them what they're doing with their spare 15 minutes, are they focusing on a goal instead of being aimless?
But sometimes what seems like aimlessness is really necessary meditation...IF people use their spare time to make serious plans:
Another jewelry-maker once asked a group of us what the 3 main things we need to make something, besides beads, and the usual replies were, tools, stringing material, and clasps...but as I was thinking about the 3 things I usually NEED to do, I realized my day requires at least 45 minutes outside, no matter what the weather, and focused thought upon making something, detailed visualization of the finished product, going over & over in my mind about what beads I have available, and how color-combinations and sizes will look together. So my 45 minutes of outside "meditation" is just as useful as being inside actually making something and in the past, taking things apart several times after just a couple inches of beadwork. Now I don't do that anymore, I completely focus my mind-power upon what I'm going to do, while I'm outside, away from everything, so I have the "finished product" inside my head when I go in the house, then I can just make something without the past problems of starting and stopping or being dissatisfied with the beginning and restarting.
Spare moments are very necessary for emotional focus, IF people focus on something that's important to them, and have full visualization of what they want to do, even if it's just relaxing and enjoying nature, not planning anything except living the day.

Guard well your spare moments. They are like uncut diamonds. Discard them and their value will never be known. Improve them and they will become the brightest gems in a useful life.
