Because we have been looking at mountain views in one form I thought that I would make a separate forum for mountain pictorial painting.
What better than to start with Luis' homeland.
How is this for a painting of The Andes.
This painting is like Constable in Peru.
What do you think Luis?
The most satisfying moments in creating a piece of art come when I have so entered into that “other” space that the work reflects the life of the object I have painted.
That means the rocks, the trees, the animals, the ocean…when the life in them comes through, I know I’ve “gotten it.” And, I create because without it I lose touch with what is most important in life.
Since 1999, I have been exploring the medium of watercolor. As I navigate the perilous waters of this aqua-media, I am learning about color (and surprises), control (or the lack thereof), holding onto (and letting go of) preconceptions, and spontaneity. And I am learning about commitment to the artistic life. Creating the door and allowing it to be open as the work flows through is indeed the challenge. I love painting en plein air and am constantly inspired by the awesome world we live in, particularly in Sonoma County.
I am beginning to explore oil painting and have also worked in clay, painting—primarily water media, multi-media constructions, movement, poetry, music, and photography.
In addition to making my own art, I facilitate classes for those wishing to explore art process. I own Sonoma Reflections, a local interior design firm specializing in natural materials and co-own Hendricksen Natürlich Flooring in Sebastopol. My family includes two married sons, two daughters, three grandchildren as well as a supportive husband, all of whom inspire me to continue in the creative life, just as I hope to inspire them to walk their own paths.

Beautiful Japanese mountain watercolour, a wet on wet technique which is very european but imitates the japanese traditions too.
