My understanding is the reason it is called "Carnaval Glass" is because it was used as game prizes (like knocking down bottles with a ball, etc.) at carnavals. It was cheap glass then.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Carnival glass is as explained.

My wife collected pressed glass for years but preferred the single coloured or plain forms, however, many designs are the same as those in the plain forms.

When my wife first bought pressed glass it was very cheap and unrecognised, then, much to do with American interest, the prices rose by many hundreds of percent. Now, since the world-wide financial crisis, the bottom has fallen out of the market and, certainly here in the UK, you can't give it away.

Carnival glass is not everybody's taste but collectors do enjoy it's lustre.

Thanks Keith and Karen.

Like this we all learn.

This is a piece of Australian carnival glass

Roger,
I am astounded at the beauty of this master piece, worthy of the world's greatest artists. I will try to lean more about this Rene Lalique, its author.
Thanks Roger for sharing.
