In this latter case, I find it hard to believe that the people behind the creation of nuclear facilities were not aware of the massive danger involved for the population at the time they approved them. No human-made thing in the world can be absolutely safe as they said those facilities were, especially considering they had advisors who in turn had scientists supporting them who must, or at least should, have known better than that. However, they had them built all the same. I believe it always is money and huge financial gains that are behind decisions of this sort.

Or take the infamous global monetary crisis that even now only the poorer in the world have to pay for, where precisely those who caused it have been helped out by their government.

Yet as Mike has pointed out in his brilliant analisys above, we as a race should be awarded a prize in stupidity. Because even the rich and powerful of our planet, those who just out of greed have caused nearly all evils on it through history, cannot be said to be intelligent in the least. I think this time they have have gone too far and Mother Nature has begun to take revenge. And her children are beginning to open their eyes and to think and wonder why. As you say, in the great plan of things this event in Japan will prove significant.

P.S. Yes Mike, although the sky is always cloudy in the capital, that night the Moon was bigger and brighter in it. Even last night it was unusually beautiful and clear to watch.
