Nov 15, 2017

I am not saying we are the unluckiest people in the world. But yesterday, Nov. 15th, I – and some or even most of you too – missed FOUR giant fireballs disintegrating in the sky above Houston in Texas and a large part of Europe – Germany, Switzerland, Austria and France. AND THAT JUST WITHIN 10 HOURS! It all started on Nov. 14th around 4:50pm (UTC) with a fireball exploding over Germany and reported by over 1180 witnesses also from Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Luxembourg and Italy. Less than five hours later, at 9:30 pm (UTC), France also reported another significant fireball lighting up the sky. Two significant fireballs disintegrated over the United States at 01:40am (UTC) over Arizona and 03:30am (UTC) over Ohio on Nov. 15th. Here some videos now:

Four fireballs exploded over the USA and Europe on November 15 2017

Large Meteor over France on November 14, 2017

The French event occurred over the city of Bordeaux (West of France) and it has been reported so far from about 20 witnesses.

Giant fireball over Arizona – Nov 15th

The AMS received 85 reports so far about this event that occurred over Arizona. But also people from Arizona but also from California, Nevada, Utah and New Mexico saw the bolide.

Major fireball over Ohio on November 15, 2017

34 reports of a fireball over Ohio. But sightings also reported in Michigan, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee.

It was a busy night for the Meteor Societies AMS and IMO (International Meteor Organization).

As Russian MoD releases evidence of US military cooperation with ISIS, Lavrov slams illegal US presence in Syria

This is Russia's strongest statement to-date, admonishing the illegal US presence in Syria.

Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has slammed the US for its presence in Syria being not only illegal, but deeply counterproductive.

Lavrov also highlighted a statement from the Russian Defence Ministry which unequivocally accuses (with accompanying photographic evidence) the US of failing to target ISIS fighters in Syria while allowing them safe passage away from oncoming Syrian Arab Army liberators.

Syria has repeatedly stated, including at the United Nations, that US troops and airmen in Syria are not actually fighting ISIS but are merely playing an obstructionist role to the inevitable Syrian victory, one which includes the arming and financing of terrorist groups.

Russia's latest statements back up these crucial long-time claims by Damascus.

Comment: The Syrian government just yesterday, for the umpteenth time, demanded that US forces get out of its country.

A statement from the Russian Defence Ministry reads,
"The US side categorically refused to carry out airstrikes against Daesh terrorists, claiming that the militants were 'voluntarily surrendering' and now fell under the provisions of the Geneva Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War."

Comment: The US suddenly cares about the Geneva Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War! After 16 years of classifying terrorists and insurgents alike as 'unlawful enemy combatants', in order to justify its practices of 'extraordinary rendition' and 'enhanced interrogation' by placing Muslim resistance to its invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan outside of international law, this reversal to the pre-9/11 international legal norm is rank hypocrisy and speaks further to the 'war on terror' being purely a vehicle for advancing US imperial interests.

The statement continued,
"The Abu Kamal liberation operation conducted by the Syrian government army with air cover by the Russian Aerospace Force at the end of the last week revealed facts of direct cooperation and support for ISIS terrorists by the US-led 'international coalition.

The coalition's aviation tried to create obstacles for the aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces in this area to safely shield militants of the Islamic State, who are leaving Abu Kamal, from the strikes of government forces. To this aim, the coalition's attack aircraft entered the airspace over the 15-km zone around the city to hamper the Russian aircrafts' mission.

There is indisputable evidence that the United States pretends it is waging irreconcilable struggle against international terrorism in front of the international community, while in reality it provides cover for the combat-ready Islamic State groups to let them regain strength, regroup themselves and advance US interests in the Middle East.

The Syrian troops' rapid offensive in Abu Kamal has derailed the US plans to set up 'pro-American' authorities to govern the territories on the eastern bank of the Euphrates uncontrolled by the Syrian government".
Sputnik further reports,
"According to the Defense ministry, such actions by the coalition prove that the advancing Syrian forces in the Abu-Kamal area have crippled the US plans to create a zone to the east of the Euphrates river that would be controlled by pro-American forces rather than by Damascus. The ministry noted that the plan stipulated that Daeshwould play a role of pro-American forces disguised as the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). To support the claim, the military representatives said that SDF flags were found in Abu Kamal".

Comment: As we've suspected for some time, 'Syrian Democratic Forces' is just a banner that can be switched out for 'ISIS' as circumstances dictate. Now apply this to 'the Taliban', 'al-Qaeda-in-wherever', 'al-Nusra Front', etc, and you get the real picture of US proxy wars across the Muslim world since 9/11: 'terrorists' are actually hired mercenaries, some of them no doubt believers in the pseudo-Islamist ideologies that 'justify' their 'cause', but all of whom are agents of the Western, US-led Empire.

In the case of any Kurds (real or 'affiliated') momentarily donning ISIS 'masks', they presumably justify their duplicity in the interest of securing an independent nation-state, which they will never achieve at this rate.

This is a clear indication from Russia that any previous unspoken "gentlemen's agreement" between Moscow and Washington, to effectively allow the US and its Kurdish proxies to illegally occupy parts of Syria east of the River Euphrates, is effectively dead. As Syrian troops have destroyed the last bastions of ISIS in Syria, all of which are east of the Euphrates, Syria has shown that it is fully capable of exercising its legal prerogative to liberate what President Assad calls "every inch of Syria" and that Russia will continue to help Syria in the process.

The statement from Russia also indicates sympathy with the Turkish position, which is dead-set against any unilateral Kurdish occupation of Syria, even under US auspices. Yesterday's meeting between Turkey's President Erdogan and Russian President Putin appears to have confirmed Russia's new supportive stance of the shared Syria, Iraqi, Iranian and Turkish position against Kurdish militants, often referred to as Kurdish terrorists.

Seeing as Kurdish forces in both Syria and Iraq have been exposed as being unable to defend their positions without the aid of the United States, the illegal US presence in Syria remains the biggest obstacle to the joint Arab-Turkish-Iranian position against Kurdish nationalism in the region. In Iraq, the US failed to aid their Kurdish allies, while in Syria the US continues to aid the Kurdish-led SDF militia, a group which Syria considers a terrorist organisation.

Comment: As the above Russian MoD evidence suggests, it's not at all clear where 'Kurdish-led SDF' ends and 'US-led ISIS' begins.

Sergey Lavrov has now joined Syria in offering a strong admonition of the US presence in Syria. Lavrov stated,
"If you look at who is the greatest danger, it's just the wards of the United States, various foreign terrorists, militants who are attached to those groups of armed opposition that the US supports".
Lavrov also slammed American and Israeli desires to see Iran and its "allies" expelled from Syria, saying,
"If we talk about the pro-Iranian forces, then some will be tempted to call the entire Syrian Army pro-Iranian. And then what? Will it have to surrender? This is what they call 'wishful thinking'...

We state the fact of our and Iranian legitimate presence at the invitation of the legitimate government. We also state the fact of the illegitimate presence of the coalition that has been forged by the United States and which carries out military operations, including independent ones, primarily providing support for the opposition armed groups on Syrian soil and in its airspace."
Lavrov added that the US has been failing to fight terrorists while helping ISIS and al-Qaeda fighters flee battle zones for a long time.

These strong words from Lavrov, combined with statements accusing the continued US presence in Syria of violating the Geneva Agreement, which the US recently affirmed its support for, is effectively a Russian call for an orderly US withdrawal from the Syrian Arab Republic. The broad points Russia makes are clear:
  • The US actively aids ISIS by evacuating terrorists from zones where their forces are being eliminated by Syrian troops and their allies
  • The US fails to fire upon ISIS terrorists when given a clear and safe opportunity
  • The always illegal presence of the US in Syria violates the Geneva Agreements which, as recently as the weekend, the US committed itself to uphold
  • Syria is being prohibited from exercising its right to liberate the entirety of its legally-recognised territory because of the illegal US presence in Syria
  • The US proxy militias under the charge of Kurdish militants are part of these wider problems
Russia has taken a decisive step in telling the US to quit Syria. It is the most strongly-worded statement against the US presence in Syria that Russia has offered to-date.

In spite of Turkey and Syria refraining from engaging in diplomatic relations, the de facto position of Syria, its Russian, Iranian, Iraqi allies and Turkey is now the same. The US stands alone in seeking to use its universally-reviled Kurdish proxies as a cover for what could be an attempt at a long-term illegal occupation of yet another sovereign Arab state. Russia, as the strongest partner of Syria, is now demanding a US withdrawal, in all but name.

Comment: The Russian Defense Ministry has provided further information, regarding the situation in eastern Syria and the covert US-led coalition support for ISIS terrorists.
Last week, units of the Syrian Army (while receiving support from the Russian Air Force) liberated the town of Abu Kamal, the last remaining ISIS stronghold in Syria, located at the Iraqi border. The operation not only delivered a decisive blow to ISIS, it also ascertained facts of direct cooperation and support provided by the US-led coalition to the ISIS terrorists.

Following the triumph of the Syrian Army, ISIS terrorists began to depart Abu Kamal en masse, while avoiding the strikes of Russian and Syrian aircrafts, and making their way for Wadi Al Sabha passage, located at the Syrian-Iraqi border.

The Command staff of the Russian forces stationed in Syria sent two requests to the Washington-ledinternational "anti-ISIS" coalition headquarters, in order to conduct a combined operation so that the fleeing ISIS convoys on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River would be eradicated for good.

The American side, however, completely refused to take any action against the terrorists, stressing that they began to surrender themselves voluntarily, meaning their actions were assessed in accordance with the provisions of the Geneva Convention relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

In addition, the Americans failed to respond to a question previously asked by the Russians on why so many of the ISIS terrorists that supposedly left Syria on combat vehicles with heavy armament were regrouping in the Washington-led coalition-controlled territories and preparing for new attacks against the Syrian Army in the vicinity of Abu Kamal.

But this is not the only controversial thing related to the matter. In order to spare the terrorists from Russian and Syrian air strikes, the coalition's aircrafts attempted to interfere with the Russian Air Force's actions in the area.

A Radioactive Cloud Wafts Over Europe, With Russia as Chief Suspect

Official monitors in France and Germany concluded that, based on weather patterns, the contamination detected since late September had emanated from southern Russia or from Kazakhstan.

“The most plausible zone of release lies between the Volga and the Urals,” the French Institute for Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety said on Nov. 9. Jean-Marc Peres, the institute’s director, told Reuters that the geographic area could indicate a spillage in Russia or in Kazakhstan.

On Oct. 8, the German Federal Office for Radiation Protection said, “Russia must be assumed to be the region of origin of radioactive release” — a suggestion that was denied by Rosatom, the state company that runs Russia’s nuclear industry.

According to a statement from Rosatom, “None of the enterprises of the Russian nuclear industry has recorded radiation levels that exceed the norm.”

“One of the countries in the eastern part of the European Union” was more likely to be the source, Rosatom added, noting high radiation levels over Italy, Romania and Ukraine.

Nonetheless, the presence of the little-known substance raised unease that a threat to European health might be building — hardly surprising in light of the West’s broad palette of other worries about Russia’s intentions, including the crisis in Crimea, which was annexed by Moscow in 2014, and the Kremlin’s activities in cyberspace.

On Wednesday, one of Britain’s top security officials, Ciaran Martin, warned in a speech that, over the past year, Russian hackers had undertaken far more persistent attacks on his country’s energy, telecommunications and media industries than previously acknowledged.

Two days earlier, Prime Minister Theresa May accused Russia of “seeking to weaponize information, deploying its state-run media organizations to plant fake stories and photoshopped images in an attempt to sow discord in the West and undermine our institutions.”

In matters of nuclear threat, of course, European memories are framed by episodes such as the catastrophic accident in 1986 at the Chernobyl nuclear plant in Ukraine, then part of the Soviet Union; and, 20 years later, the lethal poisoning in London of a former K.G.B. officer, Alexander V. Litvinenko, with polonium 210, a rare and highly toxic isotope.

With such considerations in mind, the detection of elevated but unexplained levels of ruthenium 106 by monitoring stations in Austria, France, Germany, Italy and Switzerland raised alarms.

Slowly though, as the levels retreated, the fretting eased.

German and French nuclear security agencies concluded that the pollution had not threatened the health of Europeans or the environment in which they live. “These low levels of radioactivity do not pose a health hazard to the population,” the German radiation protection office said on Nov. 10.

The French institute reached similar conclusions, but said the amounts of ruthenium 106 released at the source of the accident were significant. If contamination of this magnitude had occurred in France, it said, the authorities would have ordered protective measures for people living miles around.

The nuclide, which does not occur naturally, is used for a variety of purposes, including as a therapy for cancers and as an energy source in satellites.

According to European scientists, the International Atomic Energy Agency, the United Nations’ nuclear watchdog, has investigated whether the pollution could have been caused by a satellite falling back to earth, but concluded that there had been no such event.

Nor, according to the French and German radiation protection agencies, could the pollution have been caused by an accident at a nuclear reactor, because only ruthenium 106 has been detected and such a spillage would have released other nuclides. That left two potential sources, the French agency said, “either in nuclear fuel-cycle facilities or radioactive source production.”

Jean-Christophe Gariel, a senior official at the French agency, said, “We’ve done our job with the European data that was available, but we cannot go further for now.”

Referring to Russia, he added, “Maybe we’ll be able to answer more questions when the country concerned by the issue comes up with more precise information.”

He said that when he spoke to his counterparts in Russia last week, they had not been able to explain the origins of the contamination. “We showed them a document detailing our scientific approach. They told us that our results were coherent and correct, but that they were not aware of any event that could have caused that.”

In a telephone interview, Mr. Gariel said French experts thought the two most likely explanations were that the ruthenium 106 originated in a facility treating used fuels, or that it came from a plant producing ruthenium exclusively.

In any event, the French agency said in a statement, ruthenium levels had been decreasing since Oct. 6 and the nuclide was “currently no longer detected in Europe.”

Elian Peltier contributed reporting from Paris, and Matthew Luxmoore from Moscow.

Syrian army finds ISIS warehouses full of US-made lethal weapons

According to the Syrian military source there were a lot of US-made weapons and military equipment of Western European and Israeli production. Apart from M-16 automatic rifles there were TOW anti-tank missile systems and 155 mm US field guns.

"There were also Hummers, which were either used to transport people or were stuffed with bombs inside ready to explode. Israeli intelligence reconnaissance aircraft and a modern Israeli protective suit for conducting sapper work have also been found," the source told Sputnik Arabic.

The source also said that tech for air and ground reconnaissance, satellite communications and bags with C-4 explosives were also discovered inside these warehouses.

There were also boxes with ammunition and weapons stored in the underground shelters, while tanks and cars were covered with a camouflage net to protect against Russian and Syrian airstrikes.

The Inside Syria Media Center website quoted Syrian Brigade General Ali al-Ali as saying that the United States illegally delivered at least 1,500 trucks with weapons and military equipment to terrorists in Syria between June 5 and September 15 of this year.

Although Washington said that these weapons were intended for US allies, they always fell into the hands of terrorists, the general said.

According to the website, the Austrian Glock 19 pistol is the most popular weapon among Daesh militants. Back in 2014, terrorists posted execution videos, in which those pistols were used.

Later it was discovered that these pistols were delivered to Iraqi law enforcement bodies in 2003-2004.

According to the brigade general, the M-16 assault rifles became a symbol of crisis in Syria. The Syrian Army has repeatedly found boxes containing weapons that read "US Property." Hence statements suggesting that these were Chinese copies are probably incorrect.

Furthermore, the Syrian Army on a number of occasions found the light automatic FN FAL rifle, which is a weapon used by the NATO. This rifle is equipped with a sniper scope and is generally used in urban dwellings.

In addition, Daesh terrorists have also used Heckler & Koch's MP5 submachine gun, popular with US and European law enforcement agencies.

Comment: The American government and its intelligence and military intelligence agencies support ISIS. They have done so for many years.

Let that sink in.

Second wave of refugees will sweep Europe, says UN food chief

Published time: 16 Nov, 2017 16:44

Europe may face a second wave of migration as the situation in refugee camps in Africa and the Middle East is only getting worse, the head of the UN World Food Programme said. He added there is a clear link between hunger and migration.

Living conditions, mostly food distribution, in refugee camps in crisis-affected regions had deteriorated dramatically before the European migrant crisis struck in 2015, David Beasley, the executive director of the World Food Programme (WFP) told German newspaper Die Zeit.

“We paid a heavy price for this mistake and I'm afraid we're about to make it once again,” Beasley believes. According to the UN food chief, while many asylum seekers wanted to stay in their home region, the lack of food has driven them away. “If they don’t have enough food, they will leave. And many of them would go to Europe,” Beasley said.

While the UN has been seemingly making progress in fighting world hunger over the last 10 years, the number of people suffering hunger worldwide has now dramatically increased again, Beasley said, adding that the food crisis is caused mainly by wars and climate change. Yemen is threatened by famine because Saudi Arabia is blocking the country’s ports, preventing aid deliveries, Beasley said, urging Gulf countries not to stand aside but instead join the food aid program for crisis-stricken regions.

A WFP report from March says that some 108 million people across the globe faced “crisis food insecurity or worse,” a dramatic increase from 2015 when the figure was 80 million. The document says that major food crises were fueled by “conflict, record-high food prices and abnormal weather patterns.”

The number of asylum seekers in the EU during the second quarter of 2017 reached 149,000, according to statistical data from Eurostat. The applications mainly came from Syria, Nigeria and Afghanistan. Germany, Italy, France, Greece and the UK account for almost 80 percent of all first-time applicants in the union, the data shows.
