We Must Oppose Obama's Escalation in Syria and Iraq!

Today Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter appeared before the Senate Armed Services Committee to outline a new US military strategy for the Middle East. The Secretary admitted the failure of the US “train and equip” program for rebels in Syria, but instead of taking the appropriate lessons from that failure and get out of the “regime change” business, he announced the opposite. The US would not only escalate its “train and equip” program by removing the requirement that fighters be vetted for extremist ideology, but according to the Secretary the US military would for the first time become directly and overtly involved in combat in Syria and Iraq.

As Secretary Carter put it, the US would begin “supporting capable partners in opportunistic attacks against ISIL (ISIS), or conducting such missions directly, whether by strikes from the air or direct action on the ground.”

“Direct action on the ground” means US boots on the ground, even though President Obama supposedly ruled out that possibility when he launched air strikes against Iraq and Syria last year. Did anyone think he would keep his word?

President Obama claims his current authority to conduct war in Iraq and Syria comes from the 2001 authorization for the use of force against those who attacked the US on 9/11, or from the 2002 authorization for the use of force against Saddam Hussein. Neither of these claims makes any sense. The 2002 authorization said nothing about ISIS because at the time there was no ISIS, and likewise the 2001 authorization pertained to an al-Qaeda that did not exist in Iraq or Syria at the time.

Additionally, the president’s year-long bombing campaign against Syrian territory is a violation of that country’s sovereignty and is illegal according to international law.

Congress is not even consulted these days when the president decides to start another war or to send US ground troops into an air war that is not going as planned. There might be notice given after the fact, as in Secretary Carter’s testimony today, but the president has (correctly) concluded that Congress has allowed itself to become completely irrelevant when it comes to such grave matters as war and peace.

I cannot condemn in strong enough terms this ill-advised US military escalation in the Middle East. Whoever concluded that it is a good idea to send US troops into an area already being bombed by Russian military forces should really be relieved of duty.

The fact is, the neocons who run US foreign policy are so determined to pull off their regime change in Syria that they will risk the lives of untold US soldiers and even risk a major war in the region — or even beyond – to escalate a failed policy. Russian strikes against ISIS and al-Qaeda must be resisted, they claim, because they are seen as helping the Assad government remain in power, and the US administration is determined that “Assad must go.”

This is not our war. US interventionism has already done enough damage in Iraq and Syria, not to mention Libya. It is time to come home. It is time for the American people to rise up and demand that the Obama Administration bring our military home from this increasingly dangerous no-win confrontation. We must speak out now, before it is too late!

Two European countries on the frontline with Russia are starting to merge their military operations

Two European countries near Russia, including one that borders Russia, are combining parts of their military forces.

The Swedish government announced on October 29th that it will create a joint naval battle group with the Finnish Defense Forces.

Finland borders Russia to its northeast, while Sweden has seen recent Russian military violations of its territory — most notably by a possible Russian submarine in October of 2014.

The new battle group, known as the Swedish Finnish Naval Task Force (SFNTG), is envisioned as a cost-effective way for the two nations to conduct joint crisis response operations in the Arctic and the surrounding regions.

According to Defense News, the SFNTG will be staffed by troops trained to operate within the region's climatic extremes. The task force will "conduct sea surveillance, exercises and include combined units," Defense News reports. "It would share infrastructure and be able to transfer operational control of units between the Swedish and Finnish navies."

Finewire also notes that the SFNTG will be interoperable with NATO units and the militaries of NATO countries — which is notable as both Sweden and Finland have eschewed NATO membership in order to keep their policies of neutrality intact.

Sweden is also in talks with Finland and Denmark to be able to base naval units in the countries' homeports during peacetime.

The formation of the SFNTG comes amid a series of security shifts among the five Nordic countries — Iceland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland. In early April, the five countries announced plans to expand their defense ties.

The move toward further defense cooperation shows how concerned these countries have become about the regional security environment. Iceland, Denmark, and Norway are already full NATO members. Sweden and Finland had steered away from the organization out of concerns over infuriating Russia — but polls show that people in both countries thinking about the benefits of joining the alliance.

The formation of closer Nordic defense ties, in addition to Sweden and Finland's increasing tilt towards NATO, demonstrate that Scandinavia is taking the threat of a resurgent Russia very seriously.

(Jeremy Bender/Google)

"Russia's actions are the biggest challenge to the European security," the defense ministers from the Nordic nations said in a joint declaration in April. "Russia's propaganda and political maneuvering are contributing to sowing discord between nations, and inside organizations like NATO and the EU.

"There is increasing military and intelligence activity in the Baltics and in our northern areas," the statement said. "The Russian military is challenging us along our borders and there have been several border infringements in the Baltics."

Since Russia annexed Crimea in March 2014, Moscow has pursued an aggressive military strategy in the Arctic and the Baltics. Russia has sent unprecedented numbers of jets and boats throughout the region, Sweden contends that Russia sailed a submarine through its territorial waters in October 2014, and the Kremlin is undertaking a massive military construction blitz throughout the Arctic.

Moscow is constructing 10 Arctic search-and-rescue stations, 16 deepwater ports, 13 airfields, and 10 air-defense radar stations across its Arctic coast. One of these military bases is only 30 milesfrom the Finnish border.

The Fall Of The New World Tyrants

“I have sworn upon the altar of god, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man.” ~ Thomas Jefferson

When someone mentions “The New World Order,” it conjures up thoughts of a conspiracy involving the Illuminati, the Freemasons, Skull and Bones, old privileged family wealth and royal lineage. Beneath that you might think of the already bought and paid for world leaders and the secret agenda. And you might be right.

When I think of the New World Order, I’m thinking of an idea and it’s an idea that’s as old as war itself. How many times must we keep hearing this same ideology? Every single empire from the beginning of man had this same dream. You know the one: Controlling everything beneath the sky from horizon to horizon.

Nothing has changed in thousands of years except the horizons and the dreamers. When all you could see was the Aztec Empire, then controlling that was good enough. When all anyone could see was the Roman Empire, then that was enough. Then the Spanish saw the horizons of a New World! But when we got to Hitler, he saw all the horizons of the Earth. To the Nazis, that would be enough. Now we hear this same language coming from the President of the US and other world leaders. Then the talk about bases on the moon or Mars as we hear today from Russia and China and talk of the New World Order from the US and Europe. You have to admit it sounds all too familiar.

What’s the difference who says it, if the meanings of the words are the same? Did the populations of Rome, Spain, Germany or the Aztecs think they were any better off as they were conquering other lands? Not if you were in Germany and you were Jewish, Polish, English, Russian or any other non-German. Let’s not forget, that the Germans were the superior race – everyone else was inferior. Even then they were whittling that down with phrenology (the shape of the skull) to include only certain facial structure types. In my opinion, the NAZIs use of phrenology was the direct result of the American eugenics movement of the 1930s. It stemmed from the case of 17 year old Carrie Buck vs Bell 1927. Her case reached the Supreme Court where she was ordered sterilized to protect society from a generation of imbeciles. Although she was an honor student who was raped by her foster brother they cut her fallopian tubes. At the time there was a statute which stated that the state could perform compulsory sterilization of the unfit.

The one thing that most Empires had in common was that the good life was set aside for an elite few. So when you hear the same rhetoric coming from the leaders of the free world, don’t worry because that’s different. We are Americans and we don’t discriminate. We’ll unite the entire world and everyone will follow us. We’ll have one president and of course he’ll be from America. Even if he isn’t, America will still be in control. We do after all know what’s in the best interest of the rest of the world. These ideas stem from the 19th century belief called “Manifest Destiny.” It is the belief that the US was the Promised Land willed by God to the early settlers who were preordained to dominate the Americas. The belief in “American Exceptionalism” continues to this day and that somehow it’s God’s will that we control others. How can anyone argue with God?

Note here that Russia has fairly recently left the G-8 – now called the G-7. So there are tensions between the NATO nations and Russia which were once all considered by most outside observers to be core nations of the New World Order. What is exposed here is just how fragile these one world government concepts are. With the US-European Union alliance always wanting to run the show through domination, this is an example of calamity. What we end up with is arrogance on steroids.

In their study paper titled “US Electromagnetic Weapons and Human Rights.” By Peter Philips, Lew Brown and Bridget Thornton they wrote as part of “The Sonoma State University Project Censored Media Freedom Foundation”:

“We are in a time of extremism, permanent war, and the unilateral manifestation of ethnocentrism and by a cabal of people in the US government. These power elites have been in operation for decades and are set on nothing less than the total US military domination of the world. They defy the foundational values of the American people to achieve their ends. This is nothing new. The repression of human rights has been present within the US government throughout our history.” They continue: “A long thread of sociological research documents the existence of a dominant ruling class in the US that sets policy and determines national political priorities.”

Do I really believe that this is the agenda of some near and outdated pro New World Order enthusiasts? Well of course I do. Do I believe they’ll succeed? In my “OWN” humble opinion, NO! It’s not because the good people won’t go along with it, it’s the masses that won’t. They might as well target most of the world because the ones who are writing about the abuses are speaking for most of the ones remaining silent or who still don’t know. Not everyone is living harmoniously in American suburbia. If you are, then the world is such a beautiful place for you. Most of the rest of the world doesn’t live the good life in homogenous suburban America.

There will not be a “New World Order” – at least not the one purportedly being plotted. Besides, where would all the conscientious objectors go? I mean, currently they could go to any number of neutral countries and be granted safe haven. Some well-known people like Edward Snowden, Glenn Greenwald and Julian Assange have done just that. But where would you go if the entire world were ruled by a one world government? That in itself precludes the NWO from realizing its own existence. The people would never accept that there would be no escape and it is after all a world of the masses.

It harkens me back to something I was reading by Philosopher, Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel. It’s the idea of “Thesis-Antithesis-Synthesis” and although it’s credited to him, he credits it to Immanuel Kant. The translation of this is debatable with some saying it’s actually “Thesis-Antithesis-Whole. I kind of like “Thesis-Antithesis-Synthesis” myself, because it reminds me of the logic and writing style ofCharles Fort. His writing is difficult to understand at times and you sometimes wonder if he’s really being serious. Also his thinking is circular and as Fort would put it, “a circle leads to nowhere.” Although Hegel lived before Fort his detractors also complained that his writing was too difficult to understand. So even though his contributions to philosophy were very influential throughout the world, other philosophers said he didn’t make any sense. After much of my own reading, I have to agree that he is very difficult to follow but it isn’t just Hegel, much of philosophical writing is.

This however leads us to my point. It was the French Revolution that I was reading about. Thesis = (French Revolution), antithesis = (the Reign of Terror that followed), synthesis = (the Constitutional state of free citizens). Now to me this was the battle formula to freedom. My problem with that is as Fort would put it, “nothing-something = something-nothing.” It’s a constant state of becoming something else in an ever evolving universe. Nothing is the same from moment to moment, there’s only the appearance of sameness relative to the passing of time.

So, is a rock a rock or is it compressed dirt? Before it was a rock it was dirt and after it erodes it will be dust. So is it dirt a rock or dust? It all depends on what it is at the time you look at it. Although objects give us the illusion of sameness from moment to moment, they are undergoing perpetual change. Everything is always on its way to becoming something else. A seed becomes a seedling, to a tree, to decompose back to the soil. So again is it a seed or is it soil? It’s neither and it’s both. It is in a particular state at the particular time that it is being observed.

With everything in a constant state of evolution, how long could the NWO actually hold on to power? This was attempted before in Nazi Germany and the dream of the “Thousand Year Reich” lasted 12 years. So in my opinion the idea of The New World State would be the catalyst or seeds to its own demise. But then where would we go from there? The old Soviet Union broke up. I suppose we could build great walls around all the inner-cities then call it a “prison planet.”

However there would be conscientious objectors and many would be your neighbors. What would we do about them? If there were no safe haven for dissenters, everything would be clandestine. Everyone opposed to a one world government would not go to the polls, they would go underground. This would of course create sub-societies or sub-cultures of resistance groups. This would also inevitably be the downfall of such a government. It would lead to class war and every other socio-economic backlash responsible for the downfall of empires throughout history.

Capitalism which has actually become “predatory capitalism” here in the US will fare no better. Marxism when mentioned spins people’s heads but paints a pretty accurate picture of capitalism as a usurious system based on classism. The entire structure is based on de-facto slave labor. Realistically a worker enters into a voluntary contract with an employer to work for wages. However the employer holds all the power because the worker needs that job to feed his family and can’t simply quit. Yet capitalism is organized to keep the balance in favor of the employers. The US’s “Great Depression” of the 1920s and 30s is a great example of the imbalance. An employer could control his workers with old style abuse. The workers needed the job more than the employer needed them and people expected to work for 20 years at that job.

The fact that so many influential elitists believe these ideas are a plausible solution to our planet’s problems is more about a desire for greater control than a concern for any types of societal structures. And I know this how? I know this, because I am one of those people. I am not one of those born into an elite and fortunate club left alone to live freely. Nor one who went to Yale because my father and grandfather did. I’m not one of those born with the silver spoon – groomed to someday inherit the earth because of the womb from which I dropped. I am the other son. I am the one who was not the “fortunate son,” but the flotsam of humanity washed ashore by the waves of time and chance. I represent “possibility, not probability.”

The same waves that carried all of humanity through a possibility of existence are the same ones that carried me to this existence, to this time, into this phenomenal world. So now I’m here to say that I am no one of any significance and I am everyone of no significance. This circular thinking as Descartes, Fort, Hegel and even me is what makes up this circular world. The masses if you will.

I am only the average American living in a country made up of average Americans. I’m nobody and yet everybody, just one of the whole of averages. However, although as an individual, I am me. I would have to say I am also all of you. I don’t represent all of you and nor do I dare subscribe to that supposition, but I represent me, which no matter what you think about that, I have enough in common with any common man.

No matter what your opinion I have come to find that there are others who think exactly like you. So when I say that I am me, I mean, that I am the common man. The common man who may seem powerless by himself but the common man is America. Is America powerless? And then is the common man in America “powerless?”

Long ago when I was three I remember some construction workers discussing JFK’s assassination. I was in my yard next door and I picked up a dime from the ground – it was in New Haven. As I grew older, I thought about that day and how any man has the power to change the course of history with the flip of a coin. I thought that Lee Harvey Oswald whether acting alone or not changed history. Then I started to think, who was Lee Harvey Oswald? He was a no one and anyone. Anyone with the inclination therefore in this world, has the ability to change history. Anyone can become an assassin or a serial killer if they were so inclined. The ability then to alter the course of history has no more to do with the womb from which you dropped than it does with the lineage of blood that runs through your veins.

It is not a count of the number of the wave by which washed you upon the shore of time into the current of existence, of this world. Anyone can grab for a chance to effect change just as easily as anyone else can. Through words like “I had a Dream” or the gun like “The Son of Sam” anyone can stake their claim to history.

If this is so, then you have to decide whether you even care. Is it important to you? If any man can stake a claim to history, then that man has to decide what type of man he wants to be. Leading back to the epic battle between good and evil, what would you choose? If anyone has the ability to change the course of history, would you choose to be Hitler or Gandhi – loathed or loved?

I for one believe this is so! No one is powerless and can choose whether or not to stake a claim to history. The fact is that a position in history is not that important to most people in the world. Most people in the world would be happy to be free to raise their families and eke out a living in peace. Most people in the world would not want to be Gandhi and would most definitely not want to be Hitler! Most people in the world would not even care to be a revolutionist as much as they would care to be poor. Many times our lots in life choose the individual rather than the individual chooses his lot in life. But, when someone wants to make that choice for us, the timeline seems to send us people like Washington, Martin Luther King, Bolivar, Spartacus, Moses and so on…

I myself would rather be remembered as a good man that tried to live a good life rather than be remembered as a bad man who lived an evil life. My biggest evil in life is synthetic, created by a broken government bent on ruling the world and micro managing the population. Does this mean I can’t stay in the suburbs after the One World Government takes over? Did they give you your “SS” number yet? When you read the fine print, we probably each manage to break many laws per year without even knowing it. That’s because we haven’t read the fine print.

The history buffs haven’t read the fine print either otherwise they would remember it. Four days after the declaration of independence was read by Thomas Crafts in Boston, The Boston Committee of Correspondence ordered the townsmen to show up for military draft. The rich however could avoid the draft by paying for substitutes but the commoners and poor had to serve. This led to riots and shouts of Tyranny is Tyranny let it come from whom it may.”

The entire revolution started over class distinctions and unfairness, how many times are Americans supposed to turn the other cheek? Americans in case you don’t remember, let you push them up until the point where they push back. True patriots throughout history have always been the ones who speak up about tyranny. This led me to write my own slogan for America because although I like my state’s slogan for Connecticut “the Constitution State.” I like New Hampshire’s “Live free or die,” only it’s too forgiving. So the slogan I came up with for America is: “America – Live free or kill.”

Now before any of you war mongers attach yourselves to this, I don’t mean that in a predatory capitalistic sense. I mean that in the sense of individual Americans’ right to live free and America as a whole of individuals defending freedom in more of a Christian sense of “Just War.” Just as in human rights, social and civil justice or the right of the peoples to “justice” as in St. Augustine’s “Just War.”

Russia uncovers ISIS plan to invade Central Asia; Putin itching to unleash 150,000 troops to fight jihadis

A massive army of Islamic State (ISIS) fighters coming from various nations are massing on Afghanistan's northern border ready to march and conquer neighbouring states, Russian intelligence officials have revealed.

At the same time, Russian President Vladimir Putin is reportedly planning a huge ground operation in Syria involving 150,000 Russian soldiers to seize the ISIS stronghold of Raqqa and once and for all wipe out the jihadist group. Raqqa is the self-declared capital of ISIS in Syria and is reportedly guarded by as many as 5,000 Islamist fighters, the Daily Express reported.

Russian spy chief Alexander Bortnikov reportedly warned Moscow that heavily armed fighters from the Taliban could join ISIS in its planned invasion of Central Asia.

Speaking at a meeting of special services from the Commonwealth of Independent States, he warned: "The international community has now hit a new geopolitical challenge, an international criminal group in the name of the Islamic State.

"This project, which grew out of the 'Arab Spring,' has gained momentum thanks to the double standards of certain world regional powers by using 'a terrorist battering ram' to reach their own strategic goals in Asia and Africa.

"According to our estimates, citizens from more than 100 countries are currently fighting in the ranks of terrorist structures and the recruits constitute up to 40 percent of their forces.

"The escalation in tensions in Afghanistan has brought on serious dangers. There are numerous criminal groups included in the Taliban movement on the northern borders of this country right now. Some of them have also begun operating under the Islamic State flag, which has led to a sharp rise in the threat of terrorists invading Central Asia."

The Daily Express report said ISIS could be trying to open up a new front to the north of its territories after suffering reverses in Syria as a result of Russian airstrikes.

Such an invasion would be a slap on the face of Putin as it would take the ISIS into the former Soviet states of Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, which are still under Moscow's influence, the Express said.

If they succeed, the ISIS leaders would also secure control of lucrative drug trafficking routes, taking raw opium from Afghanistan to be sold as heroin on the streets of Russia and Europe, the publication warned.

Meanwhile, Russian jets continued pounding ISIS targets in Syria, destroying nine jihadist outposts including a command centre in just 24 hours using bunker-busting bombs, possibly killing dozens of fighters, according to Russian military officials.

Following the successful raids, Russian army spokesman Andrei Kartapolov vowed to further increase the pressure on the enemy, saying: "We will not only continue strikes... We will also increase their intensity."

Meanwhile, a terrorism expert called on Western leaders to launch a co-ordinated operation with the objective of completely destroying ISIS, saying that the ISIS have vastly exaggerated their military strength and are ready to go down if attacked with full force.

Dr. Afzal Ashraf said the ISIS has become its own worst enemy with its campaign of terror against the West, which has resulted in an international backlash.

"This mythical state will disappear in a matter of hours once the international community decides to act," he said.

GENE-EDITING SCIENTISTS READY TO PLAY GOD

'You're only limited by your imagination'

dna

Emerging gene-editing technology is primed to turn the scientific community into an army of Victor Frankensteins.

A three-year-old technique called CRISPR has experts in genetics and genomics saying the world is on the precipice of revolution.

“We’re basically able to have a molecular scalpel for genomes,” biologist Jennifer Doudna told Tech Insider on Wednesday. “All the technologies in the past were sort of like sledgehammers. … This just gives scientists the capability do something that is incredibly powerful.”

Doudna is credited with being one of the co-discoverers of CRISPR, or “clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats.”

“Most of the public does not appreciate what is coming,” Doudna told MIT Technology Review in March.

Wired magazine warned of the ethical problems posed by CRISPR in July’s “Easy DNA Editing Will Remake the World. Buckle Up.”

“The technique is revolutionary, and like all revolutions, it’s perilous,” writer Amy Maxmen said. “It could at last allow genetics researchers to conjure everything anyone has ever worried they would – designer babies, invasive mutants, species-specific bioweapons, and a dozen other apocalyptic sci-fi tropes. It brings with it all-new rules for the practice of research in the life sciences. But no one knows what the rules are – or who will be the first to break them.”

The technique has already been used to stop certain cancer cells from multiplying, protect plants from fungi and mildew, and reversed mutations that cause blindness, the magazine reported.

Dustin Rubinstein, the head of a lab working with CRISPR at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, told Tech Insider the applications for gene-editing are endless. Other experts told the website that labs could probably alter a species’ DNA for less than $2,000.

“You’re only limited by your imagination,” Rubinstein said. “We live in a much more disrupted world, things aren’t top down. What’s going to stop the next Bill Gates from tinkering in his garage?”
