The scales of fairness

The arrival of the global currency reset, the prosperity packages, etc., when they come, will mark the first step in the eventual arrival of NESARA.

Before that time arrives, I’d like to establish a few terms as elements of common discourse between us.

No term would be more valuable to establish than a common notion of “fairness.” Let me explain why.

After the first wave of of what is eventually to become global prosperity hits us, there’ll be increased activity, increased felt need, and increased complexity in our lives. I predict that the impact of the reval alone will reverberate throughout the lightworker community.

At least that’s my opinion from where I sit.

And I believe that we’ll need common standards to provide an agreed-upon floor below which we won’t allow our conduct and discourse to go.

I recommend fairness as that common standard.

Fairness occupies a special place in my heart. Gandhi was said to worship truth, but I worship fairness.

Let me first state my notion of fairness and then relate the events that made it such an important concept to me.

Fairness for me means an equitable arrangement, one that is seen and felt to be equitable by all parties.

My respect for fairness as a standard of conduct stems from the last job I had before I “retired.” (Wry laughter.)

I was tasked with deciding the fate of people claiming to be refugees to my country. I fell in love with the notion of fairness that prevailed in the Canadian legal community at that time and bound all judges and adjudicators.

When I first contemplated stepping into that hearing room and representing the Canadian people to the person before me – representing their compassion, humaneness, and sense of justice – I was completely captivated. I so wanted that job. Member of the Immigration and Refugee Board. Mmmm…. Wanted it.

When I got it and before I entered the hearing room for the first time, my wife gave me a small set of brass scales (illustrated above). (1) In my mind, I used to put that set of scales between me and the claimant and later between me and anyone. I made it a point of always looking through the filter of fairness that that set of scales represented for me.

In my hearing room, all parties – claimant, translator, claimant’s lawyer, Board counsel, the people of Canada – had to see what emerged as fair to all or a ruling or decision would need to be given on the matter. Everything that transpired needed to be clearly stated and on the record. Any ruling or decision was itself reviewable by the federal courts.

Everyone was in that hearing room with me and I had to be equitable to all and to be seento be equitable to all.

My biggest discovery during those years was that life in such complex surroundings became simple for me when I surrendered to fairness.

Fairness did not need to look a certain way. It wasn’t just fairness to whites or fairness to Christians or fairness to men. It was universally applicable.

I looked upon it as being our anchor, our lifeline in a storm. Was the discussion fair? Was the decision fair to all parties?

I can’t tell you what a growth-oriented experience that job was for me. I learned as much as anybody from it. It was the busiest job I ever had, but also the most challenging and satisfying.

OK. To return to us, that’s how it could be for us as a lightworker community as well. We too could embrace fairness in all our dealings and communications.

I look forward to having the kind of mature, adult conversations that the prospect of the arrival of a modicum of ease will make possible for us, conversations that we wouldn’t mind recording and allowing to be adjudged by our peers.

To do so, I highly recommend that we have between us an agreed-upon standard to which we can refer all matters of disagreement and dispute and I recommend that that standard be fairness.

(1) The scales represent fairness to me. Longtime readers will recall that the scales don’t represent spiritual balance to me. Fairness means equitable dealings. But spiritual balance means a return to the center where all emotional mood swings, etc., are swallowed up and disappear. It doesn’t mean a balancing of one thing against another.

Stephen: Now this is a first. A major encrypted mail service provider – believed to be the one used by Edward Snowden - has shut its entire business down rather than comply with government requirements and NSA surveillance regulations to hand over customer information and private communications – which the company owner calls “crimes against the American people”. You have to admire his integrity.

Founder of service reportedly used by Edward Snowden said he would not be complicit in ‘crimes against the American people’

The email service reportedly used by surveillance whistleblower Edward Snowden abruptly shut down on Thursday after its owner cryptically announced his refusal to become “complicit in crimes against the American people.”

Lavabit, an email service that boasted of its security features and claimed 350,000 customers, is no more, apparently after rejecting a court order for cooperation with the US government to participate in surveillance on its customers. It is the first such company known to have shuttered rather than comply with government surveillance.

“I have been forced to make a difficult decision: to become complicit in crimes against the American people or walk away from nearly ten years of hard work by shutting down Lavabit,” founder Ladar Levison wrote on the company’s website, reported by Xeni Jardin the popular news site Boing Boing.

Levison said government-imposed restrictions prevented him from explaining what exactly led to his company’s crisis point.

“I feel you deserve to know what’s going on – the first amendment is supposed to guarantee me the freedom to speak out in situations like this,” Levison wrote. “Unfortunately, Congress has passed laws that say otherwise. As things currently stand, I cannot share my experiences over the last six weeks, even though I have twice made the appropriate requests.”

Privacy advocates called the move unprecedented. “I am unaware of any situation in which a service provider chose to shut down rather than comply with a court order they felt violated the Constitution,” said Kurt Opsahl, a lawyer with the Electronic Frontier Foundation.

Silent Circle, another provider of secure online services, announced on Thursday night that it would scrap its own encrypted email offering, Silent Mail. In a blogpost the company said that although it had not received any government orders to hand over information, “the writing is on the wall”.

Several technology companies that participate in the National Security Agency’s surveillance dragnets have filed legal requests to lift the secrecy restrictions that prevent them from explaining to their customers precisely what it is that they provide to the powerful intelligence service – either wittingly or due to a court order. Yahoo has sued for the disclosure of some of those court orders.

The presiding judge of the secret court that issues such orders, known as the Fisa court, has indicated to the Justice Department that he expects declassification in the Yahoo case. The department agreed last week to a review that will last into September about the issues surrounding the release of that information.

There are few internet and telecommunications companies known to have refused compliance with the NSA for its bulk surveillance efforts, which the NSA and the Obama administration assert are vital to protect Americans. One of them is Qwest Communications, whose former CEO Joseph Nacchio – convicted of insider trading – alleged that the government rejected it for lucrative contracts after Qwest became a rare holdout for post-9/11 surveillance.

“Without the companies’ participation,” former NSA codebreaker William Binney recently told the Guardian, “it would reduce the collection capability of the NSA significantly.”

Snowden was allegedly a Lavabit customer. A Lavabit email address believed to come from Snowden invited reporters to a press conference at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport in mid-July.

While Levinson did not say much about the shuttering of his company – he notably did not refer to the NSA, for instance – he did say he intended to mount a legal challenge.

“We’ve already started preparing the paperwork needed to continue to fight for the Constitution in the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals,” Levinson wrote. “A favorable decision would allow me resurrect Lavabit as an American company.”

He continued: “This experience has taught me one very important lesson: without congressional action or a strong judicial precedent, I would strongly recommend against anyone trusting their private data to a company with physical ties to the United States.”

Opsahl noted that the fact that Levinson was appealing a case before the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals indicated the government had a court order for Lavabit’s data.

“It’s taking a very bold stand, one that I’m sure will have financial ramifications,” Opsahl said.

“There should be more transparency around this. There’s probably no harm to the national security of the United States to have it publicly revealed what are the legal issues here,” Opsahl continued.

The justice department said it had no comment to make. Representatives from the NSA, White House and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence did not immediately reply to a request for comment.

A small Missouri town is looking for a man not suspected of a crime but, rather, a miracle.

"I think that this time I've actually witnessed a guardian angel at work," Jeremiah See of the New London Fire Department told ABC News.

An unidentified allegedly drunken driver hit Katie Lentz, of Quincy, Mo., head on Aug. 4 while traveling on Route 19 near Center, Mo., pinning the 19-year-old in the front seat of her convertible. With her vital signs failing fast, she asked rescue crews to pray with her.

That's when first responders say a man who looked like a Catholic priest seemed to appear out of nowhere, despite a 2-mile perimeter blocking the scene.

"He began to pray and use the anointing oil," New London Fire Chief Raymond Reed said. "There was a calmness that, to me, seemed to come over the entire scene."

But that's not the only seemingly divine detail. Firefighters say their equipment kept failing until the mystery man showed up.

"The words were to remain calm, that our tools would now work," Reed said. "Instantaneously, at that moment, our neighboring department arrived with fresh extrication tools."

Lentz survived, but the man vanished before crews could thank him.

The young woman is recovering in the hospital with broken legs and ribs, but some say it could've been worse, if not for the mystery man on the highway.

"Whether it was just a priest as an angel, or an actual angel coming down," Lentz's friend Travis Wiseman said, "he was an angel to everyone and to Katie."

Though it was a popular series, there is really no way for me to judge among the various accounts of past lives. Some say St. Germaine was Merlin; some say Merlin did not exist; others say that Merlin existed but was not St. Germaine. And I have no independent way of saying who is right and who not.

I remember reading accounts of how many people said they incarnated as one of the three wise men. Every religious school said its main teachers did. I probably should stay away from past lives until such time as we can question the personalities face to face.

And it’s probably wiser to spend Monday’s Hour with an Angel talking with St. Germaine about NESARA than his past lives, since NESARA is so much more pertinent a topic. So do continue to enjoy the story in the series but, yes, know that many of its details are not universally agreed upon.
