Hi Roger,
Those are both great quotes for reflection. Very important to realize that our opinions give nothing of lasting significance.
Suspending our own egos to live in someone else's world is exactly what Christ did. Interesting that's what he taught.
A higher purpose or a larger purpose than self, The correlation just struck me as I read your quotes. I'm reflecting this evening on what Jesus did for me (& all of us),
In a nutshell your quotes have shown the essence of what he taught. There is a higher purpose than just to live for self, and if we are living lives of compassion and unconditional love then we are fulfilling greatest commands that God gave. To love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. And to love our neighbor as ourselves. Imagine what kind of world we would all live in if we followed what Christ taught.
"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments" (Matthew 22:36-40)
I love your quotes and how they tie into what Jesus did for us and all of mankind.
Thank you for sharing these thought provoking quotes. They are simple, yet difficult to fulfill. Yet with his help we can do it.
Have a blessed Easter,
Cheryl
