This might be the ugliest ever forum? No?
Well now I'm making it one of the most beautiful.
Why?
I discovered a wonderful 19C lady artist and I'm blown away.
Who was she?
Marie Spartali Stillman
Hi Roger,
The link isn't working, is her name supposed to be a link? Just in case you'd be wondering why nobody went there :)
(1844-1927)
Whilst wishing to send a lovely image of Irises to a friend here I entered "Irises in Art" into a browser and found this.
I AM IN LOVE
I always liked the Pre-raphaelite artists, William Holman Hunt, John Everett Millais and Dante Gabriel Rossetti and those who joined them.
I was unaware of this lady's work and as women artists are still underated and ignored in terms of the great masters some excel in there composition and imagination. This lady is one who deserves more study.
I will bring another of her pictures for you and invite your comments.
Roger
