Re: 95% Fail Rate?

Hi Linda, Well, you have certainly opened up a good question. There are lots of reasons why so many people fail, but there has to be a #1 doesn't there? Many teach and believe that lack of persistence or focus is the big one. But you can persist all you want if you don't have a clue what you're doing, and still fail. Persistence IS a big part of success - without it you will most certainly fail - but it is not #1. I'm very happy to see that you have made it clear that "lack of money" is not the biggy. It's good to get that cleared up right away. Money is a handy tool, but one thing I've noticed for years is that those who have a lot of money to start their business, but who don't have the "#1" usually end up without a lot of money! Someone said, you can throw a lot of mud at a wall, but it usually doesn't stick. I've seen a lot of people throw a lot of money at a business to try to fix it. They usually end up broke. A good business plan and good products is vital to a business' success, but even with the very best products and plan, most businesses still fail. So... 1. What does that tell me? Getting into business is no guarantee that you're going to succeed or even that you're going to make ANY money. Getting into business is only one very small step in the whole picture. 2. What is the #1 reason the fail rates are so high? Lack of a mentor to teach you how to succeed in your business. It's not enough to have a good idea, even in the brick and mortar world. You HAVE to know HOW to do it successfully, and you HAVE to follow on a proven track for success. In the MLM world, the vast majority of people have a sponsor who is almost impossible to get ahold of, and they, in turn, just keep advertising all over trying to get people to sign up; then, if they sponsor ANYBODY, just ignore them and start looking for the next one. To AVOID failure, first of all, look for a sponsor/mentor who is already successful (and can prove it) who will work with you until you really know what you're doing and are ready to go on your own. The first thought that will probably pop into your mind here is, "Well, how can I ever sponsor anyone if I'm not already successful and so can't prove it myself?" Once again, if your sponsor/mentor is truly successful, he/she will help you to build your business by sharing his/her success story with your prospect. Then your sponsor/mentor will work with your downline until you are ready to do it yourself. Note that once you find a good, successful sponsor/mentor, you must follow their instructions EXACTLY or you will most certainly fail. It's kind of like taking music lessons. You can't write good music until you've learned EXACTLY how to play the instrument properly and know it by heart. :) God bless, Dave

Hi All, Some really good responses to this, at least from what I can see. I have worked with many business owners in trying to guide them to seeing some sort of on-line success. I have seen all kinds of people try to do this but the one thing I see that sets them up to fail almost all of the time is that they do not know how to let go of their own EGO. It's my business, this is how I want to do things, I have heard so many different things but all amounts to EGO. Check it at the door, it does not belong in business. Dave mentions that to have a good mentor is something you need, but even with the best mentor if you do not drop the EGO you are bound to fail. Then you have to also look at the EGO of the mentor and see that they have also checked theirs at the door. EGO: The self, especially as distinct from the world and other selves. In psychoanalysis, the division of the psyche that is conscious, most immediately controls thought and behavior, and is most in touch with external reality. An exaggerated sense of self-importance; conceit. Appropriate pride in oneself; self-esteem.

. Hi Linda. I'll take a guess at this. They lack commitment and give up before they have time to succeed. I once read somewhere that to succeed you need 3 things... Persistentcy, Pecistentcy, Persistentcy, Regards Michael Clayton
