Would Someone Please?
11/26/2005 11:52:46 AM
Hi Linda, I'd really appreciate it if someone would; Explain to folks that sending blatant ads throught the personal message system here at Adland is, at least by me, not appreciated! Come on..... personal - business? What part don't you folks get? Sorry to rant, but it's become - well - irritating to say the least. Have A Wonderful Day, Mark

Hi Mark Welcome to my little corner of ALP. I completely agree with you. It's my pet peeve, too. I've actually written an article about it, here; http://community.adlandpro.com/forumShowPost.aspx?PostID=145768 I've actually had a member tell me "that's what Adland is for" and then ban me. lol. This same person is NOT doing well business wise, as evidenced by friends asking their lists to "go buy" because the member is having financial duress. Duh. I wonder why. Have you seen the new Batman movie? There's a line in it that I loved. He says; "It's not who I am inside, but what I do, that defines me." This is a concept that a LOT of people don't get. I'm trying very hard to create a sane little corner here where people have good conversation, a little fun, don't blast cruddy ads at each other and learn some of the concepts of *real* business. Not everyone is ready for real business. Some folks still think there's a way to get money for nothing. They haven't lost enough (friends and money) to wise up yet. For everyone reading along, here's two things you can do. 1) If you hate people blasting you with ads in personal messages, add your voice. Say so, too. 2) If you happen to see someone with a "real" url in their sig file, invite them over. They'll probably appreciate knowing this group exists and won't think "all" Adland has to offer is people blasting out ads for money making pyramids and schemes. : ) Linda P.S. In case anyone wonders if this thread has anything to do with profit online, it most definitely does. When people act like doorknobs, blasting out ads blindly to anyone disguised as a "personal" message, they seldom make much profit. When people have good business etiquette and a half ounce of business savvy, their profit usually starts to reflect it.

Hi Linda, It's good to be here, thank you. And thanks for letting me know you've tried in the past to address this issue. I hadn't seen it. Now, have you also mentioned somewhere else about ads in the "rate a member" area? LOL - I've got one of those too! Take Care, Mark

Hi Mark ========================================== Now, have you also mentioned somewhere else about ads in the "rate a member" area? LOL - I've got one of those too! ========================================== LOL. No, I haven't hit that one yet. Want another one? How about the people that post blatant ads in other people's forums - and then if they get deleted - they go leave bad ratings for the person that deleted their ads. We've seen that one, too. Sheesh. lol : ) Linda

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ When people act like doorknobs . . . +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Linda, you ought to be ashamed of yourself comparing these people to doorknobs! Doorknobs are useful!! :-) It's amazing how many people actually think they can get somewhere blasting these messages out isn't it.
