Hi Rudy;
"There are countless ways of achieving greatness, but any road to achieving one's maximum potential must be built on a bedrock of respect for the individual, a commitment to excellence, and a rejection of mediocrity."
That's a good quote. And true. Mostly because when one makes a commitment to excellence, and against mediocrity, and to success - the next logical step is to try to find the techniques that allow you to do that. To walk the talk, so to speak.
I concede that if more web sites showing products & opportunities complied to such policies, we would have less trouble achieving our goals.
That's true. Very much so. But many don't. That's where the saying "when life give you lemons, make lemonade" comes in.
One thing that works in our favor is that people are drawn to people, not companies. That's why "Ben and Jerry" have greater public appeal than Haagen Das. The story behind Haagen Das is actually a more touching story. Pity they didn't keep the people in the equation. But, I digress...
Let's say I wanted to sell various products that present "opportunities" but that I also believe in and use. I'd put up a website that brands "me" first. Let's say one of the products I sell is a health supplement. I'd write articles or blog about why to use a health supplement.
If I wasn't a natural born writer, I'd use stats reports. ie; here's a report that shows that "x" percent of over the counter supplements are found whole in septic tanks... and here's another that shows the reduction in nutrient intake over the years from 1960 to now. Link after link to external reports would make one h*ll of a blog, actually.
I'd also write reviews, in my own words, that tell why I chose "a" over "b" I'd commit to telling people what I have learned. Why I made the choices I did.
That's what I think you could do easily.
I went to the site you have at;
http://www.gastown.com/altruenergy/
See each of the products listed? Write about them. Why did you choose them? What makes them better than others you didn't choose?
I believe that deep down inside, we are all influenced by story telling. It's how history was passed down before literacy became commonplace, and it's the number one source of recommendations today. Someone said so. We read rags to riches stories and we see that it IS possible. We read stories of health miracles and we develop hope. We connect to people through their words. Without words, it is hard to connect.
At the same time, we have a natural aversion to advertising. We love to buy and hate to be sold. Stir both of those into the pot, and you're on the right track.
You know as well as I do that the lowlifes in this world are also committed to achieve their goals, but these types have goals that are designed to destroy anything and everything that is "true, honest, just, pure,lovely, of good report, has any virtue ....." Sadly they achieve their goals and openly attempt to convince a judge that they are innocent. (Now I'm rambling)
Not rambling at all. A very powerful point that people need to open their eyes to. Not everyone is honest out there - and it's a lot easier to get away with deception when they don't have to look anyone in the face.
It's something everyone needs to remember.
: )
