Before and After #1 - Making Miracles at Adland. : )
10/3/2005 10:54:09 AM
Last Monday I posted my first Monday review. If you recall, Deborah is an authorized dealer for Magic Kids USA clothing, and sells brand name kids wear as low as $2.65. (yes, seriously!) This is the page she was working with; http://interking.com/ads/magickidscloth.htm (do click to have a look) As I looked through her stock, a few things kept going through my mind. 1) Any given night, there are 750,000 Americans that are homeless. 23% of them are children. Deborah sells winter coats for $10 - $20. Such a small price to be guardian angel for a little one in need. 2) Over a million people lost everything they had to hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Yes, we can write checks to the Red Cross. But, there are many shelters who have been on ABC and CNN asking for people to please help because the funding they've receive is not enough. 3) And, there are many parents who would enjoy saving so much on providing clothing for their own children on tight budgets. Those were all thoughts in my mind as I looked at Deborah's business. Along with those thoughts, I kept thinking of one of my favorite old quotations. "It is one of the most beautiful compensations of this life, that no man can sincerely try to help another, without also helping himself" (Ralph Waldo Emerson) I looked at your thoughts, too. Wanting to be sure who you are ordering from. Needing to feel that you can trust the site, or price doesn't matter. Those are issues we needed to address, too. Here is Deborah's new page. While you're there, download the little book called "Star Thrower" -- then come back and tell us what you think, okay? http://www.Debs-Kids.com : ) Linda P.S. If you enjoy Star Thrower as much as I think you will, would you please pass it on to a friend? (It's free to give away) Let's use the power of the Adland community to make a few miracles for some kids that really need a helping hand. Thanks!

Linda, Thank your for pointing this site out. I loved the book, and will be passing it on in various ways. Also loved the site. I have four grandsons, all of whose parents could use the break on prices. In addition, what a wonderful thought to provide new clothing for the homeless among us. You are a special person. Cheri

Hello All, Interesting but I live in the U.K. Yes this is very interesting and if one were to take the time to review the site one would also understand that International Shipping is available. Now that having been said I think the whole concept is to review the difference between what was and what now is. How a simple classified ad can take on a whole new perspective. I don't think the purpose here is to ask you make a purchase, but at these prices, "I mean, a nods as good as a wink to a blind bat." The purpose is to see what can be achieved with a website no matter how small. Which of the two examples would you feel more comfortable making a purchase at? As the owner of the website vs the classified ad, which one are you giving more information through? Which one says I care and which one says I sell kids clothes want to buy some? Just my 2 cents worth, but I feel that you missed the point of this forum. It is to review the before and after.

Thanks for info here Linda. I can not and will not understand HOW it can be like that in the countries that range on the top of the most riched in the world. We do not have many homeless in Norway, and often this is people who uses the money they gets from the state for alcohol or drugs - not for household. We also have lots of damage after hurricanes where I live, and we have some few under the poor-level. What do we norwegians do? We gives to other countries many times a year, and are the country in the world who gives most per household to people who needs help - all over the world. Who are the people who gives - not they who has a lot but simple people who works from 8-4 and have their little home and family. I should wich that people all over the world started to think how lucky they are, and that every single day they use more than some families have to use for a month. When turists buy 1 hamburger here in Norway they pay from 5 to 9 dollars for a normal size. If we could pay the same as people in ex Spain, I would be happy if the savings had gone to the people who needs it. I personally sending money to Romania every year since 1987, to help the children on the streets there, are a Plan-parent to 4 children and gives every time there is something that happen official. Why? Cause I care. A cup of coffee cost me 2-3 dollars in a gasstation, do I need it - no, that 2-3 dollars could have given food to a family in Africa for 1 hole day. MY G..., the world is a strange place to live - rich and poor / wars and terrors. Will it ever stop?
