In the US the government is made up of the citizens of the United States. There were mandatory evacuation requirments and many people ignored them. New Orleans is a city that was built over water. The only thing the government could have done before hand was to force people out of there homes. If that had happened and the Hurricane had fizzled (like some do) there would have been a literal uprising.
There are many people that could not get out or were left behind. This is the responsibility of the local government. This country is neither a dictatorship or monarchy, 1 person is not in control, nor 1 select group.
We need to keep praying, sticking together and helping. We live in a small town in Georgia and we have 500 US refugees we were blessed to take care in to the Georgia Baptist Conference Center, and we are more than happy to do it.
Each and every individual in this country chooses how to live there own life, and it is up to each of us to take the high road. The blaming won't fix or help anything. There was no "plot" to destroy anyone or leave anyone behind. There is no conspiracy. We live our lives and things happen. Those troops that deployed in less than 5 days had to say good bye to their families too, leave jobs, arrange for childcare and myriad other things.
Thanks for letting me present the other side of the story - and to all the victims - we are here to help, all of us, because it could have been anyone of us. United we stand, divided we fall. Let's unite.
God bless everyone and everything, people, plants, animals and the earth that we live together on.
