SUNDAY SHOWCASE_Featuring Kim Stilwell 03/15/09
3/14/2009 7:01:58 PM
Greetings Members, St. Paddy's day is here and the birds are churpin! :) This weeks Showcase features a woman with great qualities, she's a mother, she's a child of God , a spiritual sister and a friend, we all know her as Preachergirl, Kim Stilwell, she hails from Roscommon, Michigan.

Roscommon is a village in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the village population was 1,133. It is the county seat of Roscommon County.

The village is in Higgins Township in the northern part of Roscommon County. Roscommon Township is in the southwest part of the county. The Roscommon post office, with ZIP code 48653, also serves the northern portion of Higgins Township, as well as all of Gerrish Township to the west, most of Lyon Township to the west of Gerrish, and smaller portions of Lake Township to the south of Lyon, Markey Township to the south of Gerrish, Au Sable Township to the east of Higgins and also the southern portions of South Branch Township and Beaver Creek Township to the north in Crawford County. The Roscommon post office first opened January 9, 1873.

The name Roscommon originated from Irishman Charles O'Malley who oversaw the renaming of some Michigan counties from Indian names to Irish names in 1843.

The South Branch of the Au Sable River (Michigan) passes through the village and contributes to the local economy. Several Canoe Liveries operate in the village and offer water recreation such as kayaking and canoeing.

As of the cences of 2000, there were 1,133 people, 436 households, and 235 families residing in the village. The population density was 695.1 per square mile (268.4/km²). There were 491 housing units at an average density of 301.2/sq mi (116.3/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 96.03% White, 1.24% African American, 0.79% Native American, 0.44% Asian, and 1.50% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.18% of the population.

There were 436 households out of which 28.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 36.2% were married couples living together, 14.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 45.9% were non-families. 40.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 19.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.19 and the average family size was 3.01.

In the village the population was spread out with 22.9% under the age of 18, 10.3% from 18 to 24, 24.4% from 25 to 44, 19.3% from 45 to 64, and 23.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 85.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 80.6 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $28,229, and the median income for a family was $33,929. Males had a median income of $29,844 versus $18,875 for females. The per capita income for the village was $14,746. About 19.3% of families and 21.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 34.4% of those under age 18 and 8.5% of those age 65 or over. SHort but sweet. WE LOVE YOU KIM :)

I live with a deep sense of Calling in God for about 30 years now since I gave my life To God and was made aware of Callings in and by him.  This sense has never left me for any brief time and through all the trials and battles of life and valleys of hurt and pain, which most of us do encounter at some or more than some times, I have "...lifted my eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help..." (Psalm 121:1-2), and I have been met with help, not often or always from man, but from God. I didn't learn God as much as I came to know him.  Even in the beginning, I heard inside me, answers when I needed and asked for them, that were not audible but yet very distinct and clear.

About 12 years ago I heard that God would "Restore my Family," during a time that I had been in great pain and sense of lostness and futility, after 7 years of separation and then divorce with young kids. Today I have been given a new marriage, career, home, life, and kids (another boy and girl just like the first time).  I was also given deliverance from the condemnation that often falls on divorced people; I was shown how God does not change though we may; his love and all he had given me in him was not in any way taken away, and He proved it to me by giving me opportunity to preach again just 2 weeks after a Pastor I drug myself to for emotional help condemned me and my future.

I have been a Nurse for over 12 years after all this, and today am in college a second time pursuing my lifetime desire and sense of calling in Christian Counceling.  Working on Bachelor's in Psych presently at Liberty Bible College.  This present pursuit came about in one inspired day, when it felt like God just dropped the inspiration on me and also it was ironic how this school approached me just as I was in process of registering at another secular college. I remembered then how God had made me promises over 25 years ago about my "later years," and I "knew" I was being led and feel confidently so now almost 2 years into school.

I have a genuine interest in people that is not smothered by any personal financial pursuits.  While I do value and enjoy my business ventures, my highest heart is to be God's voice to others and his hand extended and I have no mind or heart to put anything above that. If it's true that in Networking we ought to have a genuine interest in people then I find that easy, because I find perhaps a glimpse of God's interest and love for people.  I Love to be an Encouragement and offer Encouragement to people who need in any way, and feel like God gives me talent or anointing in that area; it's my heart.  So feel free to contact the Undergrad Christian Councelor if you need; I live to be a help and encouragement to God's people, whom we all are.

My credentials are not full yet in formal education, and perhaps not even in what I call "God's School," which occurs on the ordinary roads of life, but with humility I know that God has schooled me by his Spirit & Word which speak of heaven's amazing unconditional love, through many fiery trials and valley's of life's pain, so that I know the spirit of his word that tells us if we have been comforted by "The Comforter" in our own times of great need, then we will later comfort others with the same which was given to us.

I am a great believer that I am, "My Brother's Keeper."   I enjoy meeting every new person who comes across my path in life, and do enjoy knowing people no less than doing business with people.  Thanks for reading my "About Me," and I surely read yours if you have one!  Visit my Web Page if you will, as I will surely also visit yours if you invite me or if I invite you.

Well Jimmy Crack Corn!  Thanks Tommy for the sunday surprise!  ...And just before I head out for a Midnight shift at the Nursing Home, thanking God it's not a full moon tonight!  Many who work in the public, (such as the State Police!), have become accustomed to the chaos that always occurs during full moon. Not only does a Nurse face great testings of patience, endurance, and ability to handle 9000 problems at one time during full moon shifts but if you ask the police, they will also tell you that without fail, full moon shifts, espeically MN ones, bring the most criminal activity! "Activity" is the key word! ha ha!

Anyway, yes, this resort town, which is a highlight of Michigan, is a big retirement community for many who choose to escape the city and live on or by the very nice inland lakes among the northern pines where life is a little slower than in the city and far less congested.  There's really no big industry just right here, but there's "always" a need for Nursing!  I personally do consider taking my upcoming degree back to the south where half my heart still exists due to living 12 years in Tenn., N. Carolina, Texas, and Louisiana. I have to say though that it's been and is a very clean and nice place to raise kids, and also a nice place to retreat from the city congestion and experience some back to nature Great lakes breeze and forrest pine. Naturally we get a whole lot of tourists here; vacationers, hunters, water and snow lovers, so that our smaller roads and lakes do get jammed with people in summer and winter, and so that we are with a sense half the time up here that it's vacation time!

       Thanks Tom for the thought!

I can't be blessed without returning one,
so here's to a guy that inspires me in my love for writing, and also "Encourages my Soul."  And here's an Encouragement from both me and Tom I'm sure, to you:

"Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might" (Ecc:9:10);  Discover what God has invested in "you" and cultivate it, and use it, and watch be produced out of you and in the lives of others everlasting benefits and gains which were designed to be displayed in you and extended from God to others through you, as you see occuring in our Brother Tom!

           Thanks so much Brother Tom,
           And Be Blessed Everyone,
                         love Kim

Hello Tom,

I so enjoy your Sunday showcase features, doing the
geography and history of the town/city of your guest
whom is Kim in the spotlight and such a warm and
vibrant woman whom I admire very much.

Hello Kim,

Congratulations and very best wishes on being featured.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading your bio and could identify
with several events you had in your life.

I was also divorced and ostracized by many people of my
town and churches.  It hurt deeply and this is where God
gave me the gift of poetry which enabled me to write
down and let the tears flow and be cleansed as I was able
to forgive and get on with my life.

I am delighted you are pursuing the goals and desires of
your heart and I have so often read between the lines from
your posts your compassionate heart and great wisdom
and discernment.  I appreciate the advice you share with
us.
