START TO BELIEVE

Start to believe

Let your doubts subside

There’s a greatness in each of us

Don’t let yours be denied

.

Find yourself

You are more than you think

You’ve a hidden strength and power

That make you quite distinct

.

Unique miracle

A one-off special being

You’re a gem, a pearl, a peach, a prize

A sight that’s more than worth seeing

Roger,
Your poems are both great. This one line in this one really sent me a message.

Personality is gifted but we have the power to change

We feed on praise but dine-out on love

When we fail to please ourselves

We need to know how to forgive

I love this, says more every time you read it. Power house statement.

We often over look just how fragile our minds can be

When logical brilliance can turn swiftly to violence

When calmness changes to mania

We are forced to stop and notice

.

Just like a firestorm, the placid becomes enflamed

Like a snowfall the flambouyant is stifled

Nothing can be fully predicted

All is at the mercy of chemicals and connections

.

We can fight determindly against failing memory

The smallest lapse reveals the flaws

Like the cords on a blind

The threads of conciousness control the lightness of spirit

.

We need to pray that our die is not cast

That our input continues to create output

That our work-rate produces pleasure

That our existence has effect outside of ourself

.

Personality is gifted but we have the power to change

We feed on praise but dine-out on love

When we fail to please ourselves

We need to know how to forgive

.

Remember, despite what we see

The next person is just as vulnerable as us

When we condemn we slide

When we accuse we crash

.

Only me

Only you

Only us

ONLY HUMAN

Amen

Roger,

Your poetry keeps getting better, there is no saying how far it can go, how splendid it has become. At this point I cannot tell a favorite, all your poems are outstanding. I lack the words to praise your work.

Thanks for sharing,

Miguel

Hi Roger,

You've created a LOT of greatness since last time I was here!

I like all of them, I especially like this line:

"When logical brilliance can turn swiftly to violence"

(That's because we have to tolerate a lot of people who are not logical or brilliant.)

***

I hope you don't mind if I post a new one:

Holding Onto Friendship:

Go outside, breathe the air, enjoy today,
get out of this place and stress goes away.
We just need to walk and hold hands,
admire the earth together if we can.

Not be cooped up with nightmares of forever,
with each passing thought of time together
building up anxiety out of control
from high expectations taking a toll.

Feeling like two north magnets resisting
the other personality, should be persisting,
getting to know each other's normalcy
as we both say we have, do we?

Let's just have fun and not be couple-making,
we're better to not be dream-breaking.
Look for goodness, passion and drive,
in the daily small things in our lives.
