The Choice is yours?

Turn off the news, the TV doom and gloom
Look for the positive instead
Walk the dog and smell the flowers
Hum a favourite song inside your head
.
Make a cake, invite a friend
Drink tea and have a chat
Keep it light and cheerful
Bend down and stroke the cat
.
Lunchtime treat, snack in the sun
Read a book of love
Sit under a tree, enjoy a doze
Hear birdsong from above
.
Plan a trip to a special show
What to wear that day?
Take a stroll to a shop nearby
Eat chocolate on the way
.
Supper calls, great, food again
Enjoy a glass of wine
Settle to write to a friend of yours
Tell them that you’re fine
.
A positive day, a frivolous time
You set your goal and won
You’ve kept your spirits high and bright
And revelled in the fun
.
But still the neighbour beats his wife
And still the times are hard
You turned your back on everyday
And played your happy card
.
Which is right, face the truth?
Or pretend that all is well
But know your positive affects the world
Far more than you can tell
