Hi Nick,
Needless to say I am not laughing as much as some others. I have collected lots of stories over the years and do not have any hundred dollar bills to leave for those who assume that I wish to steal from them. It still grates my nerves to be watched so closely in stores because employees assume that I am going to steal because I am black. Black men get this more often than women.
Unfortunately things have not changed all that much. Age and experience has tempered my reaction to paranoia. I still leave stores where I am treated this way without purchasing anything.
This woman is lucky that she got into the elevator with two gentlemen. There are many who would not have reacted the same way.
Peace,
Lucy
