Hi Rinna,
Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. James felt very positive working for a Refrigerated trucking company because he said, that people will always have to buy food from the various food stores so he is less likely to be sitting out waiting for a load for long periods of time. James arrived at his destination in South Carolina, he had packaged beef on board. He will pick up another load and drive up to Ohio then probably be heading home with another load for a 2 day rest.
When I was living back in New Zealand, employees did not get laid off very often especially if they had been with the company for several years because it cost too much in redundancy (compensation). Most companies here in the States do not seem to have this 'safety net' for their employees so when they get laid off, with many I have read working for the same company many years - they get hardly anything in the way of compensation. The company's loyalty to their employees have gone out of the window. They do not care. These companies have to make money for their Administration staff at their workers expense. They have become so greedy and new staff comes and goes like a revolving door. The motto today seems to be 'they will not pay their employees more than they can replace them'
