RE: HSIG - Yasir Arafat Is Still Dead and We Know Who Really Did Him In
7/8/2012 12:05:12 PM
Hello Friends,

Lately the PA's been in a quandary cos their claims that Israel is to "blame" for the lack of peace talks is being quashed even by the B Hussein pro muslim regime and they apparently felt that they have to come up with something new.

Well, instead of something new they "resurrected" Yasir Arafat. Dead these past 8 years and their attempts at the time to blame Israel with his death were laughed outta the ball park when they refused to release his medical records from the French hospital that treated him at the time of his death. They were hiding something then and they still are.

The rumors were running rampant all over the place at the time and one of the strongest was that he died of aids. What ever he died from his family and the PA still refuse to release his medical records and are now fabricating that he was killed by Israel of course with radioactive material and a "new" video with a palestinian "admitting" that he poisoned Arafat as an Israeli agent.

All a lot of hogwash of course but the MSM is treating it as if it is real news cos the palestinians say it's so. Makes sense doesn't it?

Barry Rubin's below article explains in detail why it's all just some more islamic propaganda that the MSM is accepting as the gospel truth. The article is a very good read and explains facts as opposed to the fiction MSM is trying to force feed you.

Shalom,

Peter

By Barry Rubin

Yasir Arafat is still dead. True, he was once alive. I sat across from him in his Gaza office, for example. And he even had a copy of my history of the PLO on his bookshelf so he must have been of sound mind at the time. It’s not my fault. I told him to start jogging and cut down on sweets. But he didn’t listen. On November 4, 2004, he died, a fate he previously delivered to thousands of far more innocent people.

The effort now by various Palestinian factions to imply Israel killed him is the funniest thing in the Middle East since the U.S. director of national intelligence’s congressional briefing when he said the Muslim Brotherhood was a secular democratic organization. What’s dismaying is how much play Western media are giving this charge as if it should be taken seriously. When the West behaves in this way it signals at the least a dangerously naive credulousness and at worst a profound anti-Jewish and anti-Israel complex. The New York Times and Washington Post take this nonsense seriously.

But there’s something else in this story, something very chilling indeed. Revolutionary Islamists especially, but many Muslims otherwise, believe that Jews tried to murder Muhammad, the founder of Islam, and even if they failed that the poison shortened his life. The accusation that Jews are the murderer of prophets — with Muslims throwing in the founder of Christianity also — is a phrase that derives from this story. It is frequently heard from Hamas and others. This is a blood libel, an alleged crime that then leads to the view that Jews are absolutely evil and should be wiped out. In short, it is a rationale for genocide. When Iran, Hamas, Hizballah, and the Muslim Brotherhood say that Israel should be wiped off the map and Jews generally should be murdered, that incitement is the inevitable consequence of this line of thinking.

That Western observers are unaware of all of this history — repeated daily in inciteful sermons found in Middle East mosques — is quite evident. Such a lack of knowledge leads them to believe that the conflicts they say are easily resolvable, quickly settled by more Israeli concessions or still continuing because of Israeli actions when the causes are much deeper and the solutions far more remote. Western societies today are obsessed with searching everywhere for racism and hate speech. Well, the idea that the Jews murdered Arafat (rather than that Arafat spent most of his career murdering Jews) falls into that category.

As for the specific claims in the Arafat case, they are easily disposed of:

First of all, anyone who saw Arafat during the last year of his life knew he was seriously ill and steadily worsening. His lips trembled, he looked disoriented, and he wasn’t as articulate as usual. Even on television you couldn’t possibly miss his distress. Parkinson’s disease was a likely diagnosis though Crohn’s disease was said to be another probable medical problem for the dictator.

His doctors obviously knew that he was in bad shape. But, and this is what’s most important, they didn’t do anything about it. The prospect of Arafat’s death was so traumatic for the movement — which had known no other leader during 43 years for Fatah, 36 years for the PLO, and its entire ten year life for the Palestinian Authority. By not taking serious action and giving him better treatment, the key to the mystery is this: His own doctors and movement killed Arafat. So if Israel killed Arafat, then his own doctors and the entire PLO, Fatah, and PA leadership were in on the conspiracy. Indeed, Arafat himself, by not more actively seeking medical help or speaking about his problems, was also in on the conspiracy. This is unlikely.

Second, the doctors were shut up and the report of his death was kept secret by Arafat’s widow Suha Arafat. Since his colleagues had access to a lot of this information they also kept quiet. In other words, we are supposed to believe that those in the world who most hated Israel had evidence that Israel had something to do with his death but they kept it secret?

Third, suddenly, almost eight years later Suha and other Arafat loyalists are making claims. But there is no new evidence whatsoever. Obviously, this is a publicity stunt. Let them release the huge medical report on his death. Let them permit the French doctors to have a press conference. Let them dig up Arafat. Until one of those things happens, why should the Western media fall for this trick? So again, if there was the slightest suspicion that Arafat was being murdered, Arafat’s wife, doctors, and all of the Palestinian leadership were helping the conspiracy. This is also unlikely.

Fourth, the claims that Arafat was poisoned by Israel using some exotic radioactive means have been made from the day Arafat was planted but have always faded away, at least internationally, because no evidence was offered. Old fables are being treated like new revelations. Such claims of Zionist conspiracies are always promoted in order to slander and discredit Israel when just about anyone significant dies in the Arab world.

Fifth, if Arafat had been poisoned by radioactive substances his symptoms would have been extreme and evident. They include nausea, hair loss, throat swelling and paleness. Moreover, Arafat would have died really fast, but he lingered for a long time.

The history of this myth shows that it is the Palestinian leadership, not Israel, that has something to hide, that has kept everything secret. I suspect the secret is the incompetence of his own doctors.

So did Arafat die of AIDS? After my own serious research on this matter I could find no evidence for this assertion. And I know that both Israeli and U.S. intelligence had no evidence that Arafat was homosexual either on the basis of in-depth discussions over many years. Sources like Ahmad Jibril — a life-long enemy of Arafat — and other unreliable sources cited are not impressive. If there is evidence to the contrary I will certainly revise my view. But you should know that the Israeli government and intelligence position–privately as well as publicly–is that they have no evidence of Arafat being a homosexual or suffering from AIDS.

The rumor began with an article by Oriana Fallaci whose only evidence was that his bodyguards at the time were extremely handsome young men. (By the time I was seeing him in the 1990s that was certainly not true at all.)

Of course, Arafat was a weird person and in our biography, Arafat: A Political Biography, Judith Colp Rubin and I explain his psychology and personality. One of my favorite Palestinian jokes about Arafat recounts that he is patting the head of a little girl and asks her, “Whose daughter are you?”

She answers, “Yours.” Arafat was considered by his countrymen to be so cold that he didn’t recognize his own begotten daughter. The story is almost plausible.

But I repeat: there is no reason to think Arafat was a homosexual or died of AIDS or poisoning. He was overweight, ate an unhealthy diet, worked long hours, didn’t take care of himself (he believed eating honey would keep him healthy), and had very bad doctors despite their local reputations.

So we know who killed Arafat: his doctors, entourage, movement, and of course his own body. Yet when I go to Yahoo, what do I see but Arafat’s “mysterious” death as the lead story in the entire world, as if any accusation made against Israel must be true.

Note: Here’s a history of the Israel-killed-Arafat tale in Palestinian Media Watch. For more analysis of why the claims are absurd see here and here. Note: Here’s a history of the Israel-killed-Arafat tale in Palestinian Media Watch. For more analysis of why the claims are absurd see here and here. Here’s some more information about the Israeli decision to let Arafat go to Paris. One interesting point is that it implies the French doctors took some action which might have been correct but could also imply that they are at fault for Arafat’s turn for the worse, giving them a motive for not revealing details of his treatment.

Hello Friends,

I've been reading articles by Joseph Zaalishvili for quite a while now and have always been impressed by his excellent writing and true reporting. Joseph is a Georgian (Not the US state of Georgia :)) reporter, politician and activist. His command of world affairs is extremely well founded and his commentaries are always an interesting read. This article is no different and is well worth reading.

The title of the article is Hatikva a Hebrew word meaning the hope and also the name of the Israeli national anthem.

Shalom,

Peter

To be continued ...

So ends a few movies.

And so I start my article with it, an article in which I'll share some of my impressions after a visit to the State of Israel.

This is a beautiful country and a beautiful people. Despite the fact that in both Jerusalem and in Tel Aviv I have seen many brave soldiers of the IDF, I can say one thing: these young boys and girls are not the aggressors, as they are represented in the Islamic and leftist press.

These are people that do not hate.

These are people who appreciate life, ours and theirs.

These are people who want to live in security and freedom in the State of Israel.

In the state which is now the only democracy in the region.

Throughout its history, the people of that State have lived in danger of being destroyed and exterminated.

As they do now.

Recently, in North Africa, and throughout the Middle East, much has changed, but there was one constant, the constant of Islam: hatred of Jews and of the Jewish state of Israel.

Iran, Turkey, Syria, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and how many more not listed "so as not to offend" continue to follow the teachings of the Prophet Mohammed, and so hurl accusations at, do not recognize, and threaten to destroy the State of Israel.

And is it possible to identify others who may be among them? In a soft way? They have a different approach, but the same goal of Islamization in the region and the world, and the imposition of Sharia wherever a Muslim has set foot, without any democracy or freedom in the Western understanding.

Did I make a mistake?

And are we fighting this?

Are we fighting it at all?

Do we want to fight it?

Or do we prefer to pay tribute, in both the literal and figurative sense?

To agree to their demands, to be led, not to take drastic measures.

Enough being clever. I will tell you straight out what I think. Maybe then in four years or even more years the Americans will give me a visa. Unless, of course, they continue the policy of the current administration.

Speaking of the politics of the current administration, it is very interested in supporting the Islamization of North Africa, including truly aggressive Islamic regimes -- as if it is protecting Iran.

Several years ago, Turkey was asked and agreed to the bombing of the Syrian nuclear reactor by Israel's air force.

Now this has changed.

Egypt, bordering on Israel, is now led by the Muslim Brotherhood. Iran continues to enrich uranium, and the financial and economic sanctions have no effect on the regime of the Ayatollahs and the military machine of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In this scenario, there are a few questions. And not just about Israel.

President Obama is loyal to and even supports the Islamic regimes of the "Arab Spring." Thus he is promoting the construction of a green fence around the State of Israel.

2012 is the year of presidential elections in the United States. What if Barack Hussein Obama is reelected? He will continue this policy, and the Islamic world will pressure Israel and try to force the Israeli leaders to conclude an agreement with the Palestinians on the borders existing before 1967?

And even if the United States under the leadership of Obama would destroy Iran's nuclear facilities, it could be a price for the American recognition of the "Arab spring" and agreement to the division of Jerusalem. This is it more like blackmail, but if we do not support it, we will live in fear of nuclear Iran.

I hope this is not true.

We all live in hope. It's human nature.

Hopefully we will not have to choose between the two. Which is better? The next 4 years with President Obama and without a nuclear Iran, but with the results of the "Arab spring" and a severely weakened Israel, or the next four years without President Obama, but with a nuclear Iran.

Hello Peter

Another video by Pat Condell.....

You gotta love this guy for telling it like it is ...in almost every way except spiritually, ...that is imo. What I love about him is that he is so politically incorrect ...delicious for those of us who hate political correctness and the error and evil it almost always represents.

Although I think believing in God is important, I recognize that there are many who could care less if Pat is a believer or not just as long as he keeps posting his refreshing videos. He is really good at recognizing the truth about Islam and the truth about what is happening in the Middle East and Israel, among other things.

Someone might want to ask me, "Is it possible he recognizes the truth about Christianity?" From what I know, I have to say "No" but that's me and is not the issue of this post and in this video.

In this video, Pat seems to not quite get it about Obama sometimes.

Obama is NOT a Christian! Obama is NOT an American (at least not in his heart). I would not be surprised if it is discovered that he isn't an American AT ALL! I just had a delicious thought ...Maybe we will get to see him deported. Aaaahh, alas, but I dream.

Pat doesn't quite seem to get it sometimes. Obama doesn't stick up for American values because Obama is not a true American, that's why. Obama turns his back on persecuted Christians because HE IS A MUSLIM. Persecuting and killing Christians, Jews and other non-Muslims is what Muslims do. If someone is an alcoholic, what does an alcoholic do? He/she DRINKS. If someone is Muslim, what does he/she do? He/she KILLS ...or at least minimally he/she supports other Muslims who do.

Peter, if you posted this here already, once more won't hurt, will it? It is worth another listen.

God bless you all and God bless Pat Condell. :))

I saw another recent video with Pat Condell and he does not look well. His speech is less 'adamant' and he looks like he's lost weight. I hope and pray that all is well with him. The video I saw was called "Tell the truth about Islam" if you are interested.

Hi Helen,

I normally post all of Pat Condell's videos and I was planning to post this one but never got around to it.

I believe Pat's giving B Hussein the benefit of the doubt in some ways but his message about Dhimmitude is an excellent one. His personal beliefs are of no importance and he is one of the few that speak out about the Christians being persecuted in the majority of the islamic nations.

There is definitely a need for an army of Pat Condells and slowly but surely I believe were building that army and it's getting stronger day by day.

Thanks for the post & Shalom,

Peter

RE: HSIG - The Exodus Became Israel's First Ship of State-65 Years Ago.

Hello Friends,

Many of you probably saw the movie Exodus many years ago. Some might not be aware that the Exodus was a real ship and the story a true one. It tells the story of Jews who fled the Nazis and were thwarted in their quest to reach Israel by the Brits. Israel (then still Palestine) was under the British mandate and their bias and pro arab stance didn't allow the Exodus to land in Israel. They went so far as to return the ship to Nazi Germany. Their actions shows the true face of the Brits ruling under the British mandate and it's no wonder the underground armies fought against the British till they left.

Their story is told in the below article and is well worth reading. The plight of that ship encompasses the reasons why the Jewish people need a homeland of their own and the reasons we'll fight to defend ourselves against all our enemies. Not much has changed since then and the fight goes on.

Shalom,

Peter

The Exodus Became Israel's First Ship of State-65 Years Ago.

Sixty-five years ago last week the Exodus, then called the USS President Warfield, had its name changed for the last time as it embarked on what would be its last and most famous mission, bringing Holocaust survivors to the Holy Land. Back then the British were trying to curry favor with the Arab nations by preventing Jews from settling the holy land, today it is the President of the United States doing the same thing.

As the world ramped up to WWII the British caved into Arab pressure (that would never happen now--would it ?) and refused to allow any Jews to enter what was then called Palestine (the Roman's changed the name from Judea to Palestine in 135CE to hurt the morale of the Jews who's uprising was just crushed). Many of those trying to get in to Palestine were trying to escape the Holocaust, after the war, when the Exodus made its final journey, the British were stopping Holocaust Survivors from entering the holy land.

The Exodus voyage was an attempt to smuggle some of these Jews into the country, but they were noticed by the British as they approached Haifa. Upon the ship's arrival in Haifa on July 18 the passengers were transferred to three more seaworthy ships. These ships, and the President Warfield, left Haifa harbour on July 19th for Port-de-Bouc. Foreign Secretary Bevin insisted that the French get their ship back as well as its passengers. When the deportation ships arrived at Port-de-Bouc near Marseilles on August 2, the emigrants refused to disembark, and the French refused to cooperate with British attempts at forced disembarkation. Realizing that they were not bound for Cyprus, the emigrants conducted a 24-hour hunger strike, refusing to cooperate with the British authorities.

The ship's ordeals were widely covered by international media, and caused the British government much public embarrassment, especially after the refugees were forced to disembark in Germany which had just finished killing 6 million Jews. It is said that the events convinced the US government that the British mandate of Palestine was incapable of handling the Jewish refugees problem, and that a United Nations-brokered solution needs to be found. The US government then intensified its pressures on the British government to return its mandate to the UN, and the British in turn were more than willing to accept this.

Below is a first-hand account of the Exodus, Israel's First Ship of State

If any on board the British ship failed to understand the reference, they would have understood the unfolding drama when the Columbian flag was lowered and the Israeli one raised

Launched in 1928, the President Warfield initially plied the Chesapeake Bay between Baltimore and Norfolk. Nearly two decades later, the ship - worn out, battered and appearing to one observer as "a matchbox splintered by a nutcracker" - was renamed the Exodus. In 1947 the ship embarked on its final voyage, and helped to launch a nation.

On the 60th anniversary of the Exodus's sailing, Metro spoke to a father and son who were among its 4,515 passengers. Eli Agulnik, who today resides with his South African-born wife, Zinky, in Kfar Saba, was three years old at the time.

"My father, Boris, had been a colonel in the Russian army and my mother, after marrying my father, had moved east and so avoided the Nazi invasion," he explains.

The rest of his family had been less fortunate.

"My grandfather Motel crawled to his grave," relates Agulnik. "When the Germans arrived and began rounding up the Jews, they had little patience for the elderly. They threw saba out the window from his second floor apartment." Motel survived the fall, but the Germans made him crawl to a pit, where they shot him together with the rest of the residents of his shtetel, Agulnik recalls. Other family stories were equally horrifying. His aunt was one of a group of Jews hiding in a sewer. As the Gestapo searched above, another woman suffocated her baby to keep his cries from giving them away.
Agulnik says that in 1947, after months of travel by train, foot and cart, his family made its way from the Russia-China border to Poking Pine City, the second largest German DP camp after Belsen. Their plan was to reach Palestine. "There, my sister Yudit was born and… I finally had my brit mila, at age three. There was no anesthetic and they said I screamed in Russian, 'Mommy, mommy it's painful.' Afterwards, I'm told, I used to proudly go around and boast, 'Now I am a Jew and I am going to Israel.'"

Few immigrants to Israel can claim that the story of how they arrived entailed a lengthy sea journey that was chronicled in daily newspapers around the world. How many have kept the El Al tickets from their aliya flight? But Agulnik proudly shows Metro his Exodus boarding pass.

While still in the camp, Agulnik senior was approached by the Hagana. Having been a battle-hardened colonel in the Soviet army, he was needed in Palestine. The family boarded a truck that was part of a convoy bound for Sete, a port near Marseilles. From there, they would be joined by other Holocaust survivors and displaced persons and would board the President Warfield, bound for Palestine.
"At the German-French border we were told to get out of the trucks and cross by foot. Scared that they would not allow us through with a three-month-old baby, my mother hid little Yudit in a box and left her on the truck. At the other side, after [the] nerve-wracking process at passport control, my anguished mother rummaged through the boxes until she found my sister, who was crying from hunger and fear," Agulnik recalls. "One of the French soldiers noticed the commotion, but when he saw [my mother] breastfeeding Yudit, he tactfully looked away."
"Looking away," however, was something the British refused to do. After setting sail on July 11, the President Warfield soon had company. The British Royal Navy began tailing the vessel, despite its Columbian flag. Soon, there was little point in pretense. The destination was Palestine, and the ship - under the command of young American Ike Aharonowitz and his mainly American crew of Jewish ex-servicemen - was ready to convey a message to the world.

One can imagine the outcry after the ship's real name was revealed in bold lettering: EXODUS. If any on board the British ship failed to understand the reference, they would have understood the unfolding drama when the Columbian flag was lowered and the Israeli one raised. The course of not only a ship, but a whole nation, was at stake.

"What was different about the Exodus," explains Agulnik, "was the massive number of passengers on board. Generally, the ships that had been bringing in illegal immigrants before were relatively small, carrying at the most a few hundred passengers. With over 4,500 on our vessel, the Hagana had upped the ante. The stakes were high!"

The British government, which wanted this evolving drama to reach a finale of its own choosing, ordered its Navy to hijack the ship.

"One of the destroyers came alongside and called over the loudspeaker to our captain, ordering him to sail for Haifa," relates Agulnik's father, Boris, a resident of Haifa. "As time passed, they could see that the Exodus was not changing course. The instructions from the Hagana were to sail directly to Tel Aviv, as far [as possible] from the British naval base at Haifa. Then the British made their move."

Some 40 kilometers offshore and outside the jurisdiction of Palestine, the British destroyers surrounded the Exodus - one even ramming into it. They forced their way on board the Jewish vessel, caring little for the 655 children on board, many of whom were war orphans. Challenged by the Exodus's passengers and crew, a fight broke out in which three shipmates, including first mate William Bernstein - a US sailor from San Francisco - were killed.

"The British had truncheons and were bludgeoning left, right and center. What did we have to fight with?" sighs Boris, "Our bare fists - and some hopelessly fought with tin cans. Ike, our captain, lost his finger."

In the end, the British took control of the ship and towed their battered- and-bruised prize into Haifa port. Little did the Mandate Authority realize that they were creating the images that would swing the world's sympathy toward the Jewish people.

Ruth Gruber, an American journalist, was waiting on the wharf as the Exodus limped into harbor. In a dispatch, she described her first impressions: "In the torn, square hole, as big as an open, blitzed barn, we could see a muddle of bedding, possessions, plumbing, broken pipes, overflowing toilets, half-naked men, women looking for children. Cabins were bashed in; railings were ripped off and lifesaving rafts were dangling at crazy angles."

The rafts must have been hanging very precariously, because one of them dislodged and drifted over to another ship, the Drom Afrika, which had left Cape Town three months earlier carrying seven young Jewish men trying to reach Palestine. Metro spoke to Issy (Greenberg) Granot, a retired architect, who was on board that day and helped lift the Exodus's errant life raft onto the deck of the Drom Afrika - a former mine-sweeping vessel that had been converted into a fishing trawler in an attempt to fool the British.

"As we sailed into Haifa, we saw the Exodus being towed into port. We watched as the Holocaust survivors on board were transferred onto three British ships. That night, Haifa Port was alive with activity," Granot recalls. He describes how police patrolled the harbor, dropping depth charges to scare off the Jewish frogmen who were working to sabotage the British ships.

But the British had no intention of sending the Exodus passengers to Cyprus. "They wanted to make an example and humiliate us. What better way than by sending us back to Europe?" Agulnik asks. Exhausted from the sea journey as well as the battle on board, all 4,515 passengers were transferred to three freighters converted into prison ships - The Empire Rival, The Ocean Vigor and The Runnymede Park.

Not only reporters, but also some members of the United Nations Special Committee on Palestine (UNSCOP) witnessed the events in Haifa Port. They later said that what they saw influenced them to press for an immediate solution to Jewish immigration and the question of Palestine.

The next day, the three ships left. The Agulnik family was crammed into the belly of The Empire Rival. Boris describes the conditions on board. "We lay crammed together in the bare hold of the freighter and the food was inedible. Nevertheless, under the command of the Hagana, we began to build an organization. It was decided that all passengers were to remain on board and not disembark when we arrived in France. We were repeatedly encouraged to resist [the British]. Even little Eli went all out to make a nuisance of himself. He used to climb all over the place, particularly on top of the makeshift toilets on the deck, and scream, 'Englander, I'm here. Now come pull me down.'"

But the Hagana members who had slipped on board disguised as refugees were plotting other acts of resistance - some more serious than others. "No sooner were we out at sea, when one of them climbed the mast and removed the Union Jack, replacing it with the Star of David. If they could, they would have lynched the fellow. In the end, they released him, never suspecting that he was a Hagana plant."

"What we later found out was that the three Hagana chaps had brought a bomb on board. Unfortunately, they had no timer, so they drew lots as to who would sacrifice himself should they decide to use [it]," Boris adds.

When the ships arrived at Port-de-Bouc near Marseilles on August 2, the emigrants refused to disembark. The French refused to cooperate with the British attempts to force them off the ship. "So the British Consul came on board and tried 'friendly' persuasion. If we voluntarily left, they'd arrange French papers for us, find work and so on. People were booing and screaming. Someone shouted, 'We know all about British promises,'" Boris relates. He says the scene reached a head when a passenger showed the consul a plate of that day's food. "You call this food. Look at it. Can you tell the worms apart from the spaghetti?" he asked the official, who left in a huff.

Following a hunger strike by the passengers, the ships were ordered to proceed to the British-controlled sector of Germany. Boris reveals that he had been told that the Hagana managed to smuggle a clock on board to use as a timer for their bomb. The plan dictated that if the Jews were ever forced to leave the ship, the Hagana would detonate it once all were safely off. The plan was executed when the ship reached Hamburg and all the refugees were finally forced off the ship into DP camps.

"The British suspected something and conducted a search of The Empire Rival. We heard afterwards that they found the bomb in the engine room, removed it, and placed it on a small dingy with the aim of dropping it somewhere safe in the sea. Reports filtered back that the bomb exploded, killing all the British personnel," Boris relates.

One day, David Ben-Gurion visited the camp. "After he addressed the people, I introduced myself and we spoke in Russian," says Boris, who at that time knew no Hebrew. "BG spoke with such vigor. He assured me, 'Don't worry. There will very soon be a Jewish State, and you, the passengers of the Exodus will become its honorary citizens.'"

Eventually, in 1948, the Agulnik family returned - but not to Palestine, rather to Israel. The captain of their ship was Ike Aharonowitz, of the Exodus.

Ten years later, Leon Uris wrote Exodus. The best-seller was partly based on the story of the ship. One of the millions around the world who read and thrilled to the novel was a young girl in Cape Town, Ziona "Zinky" Wolffe. She was so inspired by the story that she went to her father and told him, "One day, Dad, I will marry an Israeli who sailed on that ship."
