Hi Kathy and my Adland friends,
Conflict, great subject, I could write for hours on the subject, however I wont.
I love conflict, the confrontation the challenge? if I win (fairly) then I feel good and justified, if I lose then I learn by it and take on board what I have learnt so that next time I take control of the situation.
I realize that many don't like confrontation's or conflict, if you think smartly, clearly and are prepared to listen to what the other person is saying? (with out interuptions) there is a good chance that once the person has had thier say (got it off thier chest so to speak)will calm down enough for you to have your say and that inturn changes the whole situation you are now in charge and what happens next is up to you, you can either blow your chance? or win.
I have been in several situations where I have come in to conflict with armed angry men. (many of whom could only speak a small amount of English) Now I am not a negotiator but practising what I have learnt, have managed to control the situation with no one being shot or injured. It really boils down to Listening to what the perpretrator has to say first.
Stay safe
love and regards
Paul
