Thank you Thomas!
Like Phil, it brought back many memories of my Grandmas (both of them)
My grandma Scott lived in a house without any electricity. She cooked on a wood stove (best biscuits you ever ate) did her laundry in a wash tub, heated her water in a big black pot over an open fire, made lemonade from real lemons and home made ice cream with a crank machine. The whole family (she had 11 children and I don't know how many grandchildren) used to sit on her front porch on Sunday afternoons and drink lemonade and eat ice cream. (well, actually, we couldn't all get on the porch, some were in the side yard in the shade, and we children played hide-an-seek and kick-the-can) What wonderful memories!
My fondest memory of my grandma Patterson was washing her hair. I remember, even after I went off to Nashville to school, when I would go home mom would say "let's go wash grandma's hair. She was so weak she could not do it herself.
Have a wonderful Memorial Day week-end everyone, and if you still have your grandmother, call her and just talk for a while. You will be glad you did!
