Kitchen Tips—How to Enjoy Asparagus

I like to soak the asparagus several times to remove the sand.  Then trim the tough ends of the asparagus.  You may like your in long stems and others may favor the Asian style perhaps cutting more of the stem into a slanted piece which is very appealing if you have never tried this style before.  This size can be tossed into a salad or a stir-fry.

Steam asparagus for a few minutes in very little water. Steam until brilliant green and fork tender. Watch them and be careful not to overcook.

A bowl of cooked asparagus on the kitchen counter will simply disappear as a delicious snack.  Having only 40 calories per cup makes this an allowable treat. A squeeze of lime or lemon and perhaps a dash of salt and pepper complete your dish. Enjoy!

We had our first Asparagus yesterday and it was sooooo good.  The first crops was lost to the cold weather so we will be eating as much as we can now.

Hi Donna,

This is one veggie, that I never liked, just the smell of it cooking make me about half sick, but after I had esphogos surgery, it never smelt bad after that. It doesn't bother me and I even tried some, but it to me, had little flavor. Maybe it wasn't fixed right.

Hello Donna,

Asparagus is one vegetable I can never get enough of cold or hot, white or green. I love to dip mine in a little mayonnaise which doesn't do anything for my hips but hey I will be fat but happy LOL.

God Bless
