3 levels to Commitment

3 levels to Commitment

There are three levels to commitment..... what level have you committed to?

1- decide what you are going to be committed to and you make that  commitment.

Funny thing about this first level of commitment - almost everyone does it. They think about how nice it would be to have or do a particular thing. Then decide to do it (get it). But most do not follow through. They quit before they start and make excuses for their failure.

2- Place action on your commitment.

Action is what separates the men from the boys - the doers from the dreamers!!! Most people fail to remain committed to their commitment long enough to see "any" success. Action is on going. many people say " but I tried this or that and it did not work" - so again they quit before they see the results.... only a few continue to step forward one step at a time until they win.

3- Be so Committed to your commitment you should be committed!

Humor set aside - this third level of commitment is what it takes to get "the burn".... to find the "passion".... to stay focused with ease.

Passion is the seed of greatness that lies within us all - wanting to express itself. To be so committed to your committed others will think you lost your head and should be locked up.... With the third level of commitment you simply do not accept failure as an option. you may take detours by choice- change programs by choice, but "only" if you are certain the program you are working wont get you to your goal (usually because of a poor product or poor system)- but you stay focused to the end result. WIN !!!

One of the most important aspect of level three is the time you commit to two things. these two things are.

1- Learning

2- Doing.

And you MUST do them BOTH!!!!!!!

I like what Brian Tracy said in a newsletter I get from him. You can subscribe to his free newsletter on his site. www.briantracy.com

I think this article fits this topic.

I've been a fan of Brian for years. Once a number of years ago I was privileged to catch him before a speech and spoke with him a few minutes one on one.

Enjoy - and if you thinbk this forum is of value - feel free to invite your friends to view it too...

Thanks

Neil

One Hour Makes All the Difference
By: Brian Tracy

You've gone as far as you can with what you now know. Any progress you make from this moment onward will require that you learn and practice something new.

Commit to Lifelong Learning
One quality of leaders and high achievers in every area seems to be a commitment to ongoing personal and professional development. They look upon themselves as self-made people, as "works in progress." They never become complacent or satisfied. They are always striving toward ever greater heights of knowledge and understanding.

Get to the Top in Five Years
Earl Nightingale said many years ago that one hour per day of study in your chosen field was all it takes. One hour per day of study will put you at the top of your field within three years. Within five years you’ll be a national authority. In seven years, you can be one of the best people in the world at what you do.

Read Everything You Can
Read all you can about your field. Subscribe to the executive book clubs and book summaries. Build your own library of important books in your field. Never be cheap about your education.

In fact, if you make a decision today to invest 3% of your annual income back into yourself, back into your own personal and professional development, you will probably never have to worry about money again.

Go Through 50 Books Per Year
If you read one hour per day in your field, that will translate into about one book per week. One book per week translates into about 50 books per year. 50 books per year will translate into about 500 books over the next ten years.

Join the Top 1% of Money Earners
If you read only one book per month, that will put you into the top 1% of income earners in our society. But if you read one book per week, 50 books per year, that will make you one of the best educated, smartest, most capable and highest paid people in your field. Regular reading will transform your life completely.

Action Exercises
Here are two things you can do immediately to put these ideas into practice.

First, ask the successful people around you for their best book recommendations. Whatever advice they give you, immediately go out and buy those books, take them home and begin reading for one hour every morning before you start work.

Second, when you read, underline and take notes when you find important ideas that you can use. Implement them immediately. Take action of some kind on good ideas. You will be amazed at the change in your career.

Hi there Neil,

It's great to see you in the forum.  That was a good article about the three levels of commitment.  All of us are committed either to a another person, a wife, husband, a business, a pet what ever you are committed to you want to make sure to want to stick with it through thick or thin.  Don't give up the ship! Committment is a responsibility you take on yourself to succeed forward.  If you are involved in too many things or artivities or businesses you can't keep yourself focused and you lose it along the way.

Be committed to one or two things.  Do the best you can do and keep yourself focused, then you will be a success!
