I will pray for Sammy and for His family and for you as well, i know its not easy living with a cancer patient, may God give you all the strength to overcome this and for the doctores to give the right tools for you to do so! We will be praying for Sammy and his family.  God has two ways of healing.  He can take the illness from Sammy or He can take Sammy  from the illness.  Either way we must pray that God's will to be done.

Read Romans 8:28.  I believe that all things works for the good to those who love Him according to His purpose.   This will be true with Sammy.  Faith is how we are to walk.  Encourage the family in that.
