My German is a little rusty, but I memorized this poem about 35 years ago, and it has a good message. Here goes:

Truly, he was indispensible,
Anywhere that anything was happening
For the good of the community,
He participated, he was there.

Shooting contest, casino ball,
Horse race, competition,
Glee club, fire department practice,
Without him it just did not happen.

Without him, nothing happened,
He never had an hour free,
Yesterday as we held his funeral,
He was there as well

I don't know German, thanks for the translation! I think we all know people like that...lucky he wasn't too busy for his own funeral! That was probably the only rest he'd had all his life, and I bet he wanted to get up and socialize and help people find a seat!
