Targeted messages.

Why do they have these?  I don't get it, I will still have the same message in my inbox.  I get notified of new messages... If you see a value with these, I'd love to know what it is.  Andy Rooney would have something to say, but he's not a member of this forum.  thinker1.jpg I should a listened to my parents. image by chuckdetoreLet me know your thoughts, Thanks!!!

Hello Chuck,

I have often wondered the same myself and came to the following conclusion.

You can receive emails from friends, you can send emails to friends, you can even pay to send repeated emails to your friends lis as a group instead of individually, send to member's based off their interests even if they aren't on your friends list individually if you choose to seek them out, and as a added incentative you can send to groups of members not on your friends lists based off their interests.  Provided you hold the right membership level.

It's all about monetizing this awesome ALP Coomunity.  Does it make sense?  For those that are seeing a return on their advertising, it does.

For those of us that are on the receiving end, it is a welcome nusiance for having such a great community and sometimes there is a carrot in these never ending ads.

But this is Adland Pro and by its name you probably should suspect and expect to receive them.  And you can choose not to receive them.

So in the end I can see the value and understand why you ask the question.

;-)

May Wisdom and the knowledge you gained go with you,

Thanks Jim,

So glad you cleared this up for me!  I have a gold membership, so I'm gonna look into this a lot more.

I read your response, but before I could answer, had to log in...  Guess what was waiting on me?  A targeted message, first time one made me crack up - perfect timing!  Again Jim, your time clearing this up is greatly appreciated!  The longer I'm here, the more I learn & this is great to know!

ALL THE BEST!!!

Chuck

Hi Chuck,

Meant to visit this forum days ago.  As I approached your forum I was greated by, you guessed it, a  targeted message.  Now when I go to my private messages there it will be again.  5 more times and I will be sold.  Well don't they see you need to see an ad 7 times.

Now turn this around.  Send out a tarted message to several thousand people.  Guess what, they all have the option to answer the ad with a comment.  So what would they answer?  Well of course an ad. The mailbox is full of them.

All of this has replaced the old time, make a friends list concept.  So making friends and working together to promote each other is no longer a community idea.  It is just more of the "throw ads, as many as you can in everyones face".

I wish more people had  responded here on your question.
